Brand new haikyo post - the first in over a year! http://gakuran.com/eccentric-mr-innards-golden-kingdom/
Hurrah! Autumn is here! The lands are awash in rich reds and heavenly golds and I, tired of the relentless greys of the city, am positively tingling to get out of Tokyo. Nothing compares to a warm fall day in Japan, except perhaps one spent in the company of a good friend in a spectacular …

Better than MINT CRUNKY! Yes really!
These are so good they could make the world go round.

But nothing at all on #morinaga  's site about this delicious evil!

I've only seen it in some #famima  so far.

+Kyle Hasegawa That's a good point, sadly not all judges see the intent the same way and at this point its not been to court. Police don't interpret the law they enforce it.

Here's list year's list of compelling buzzwords from Japan http://gakuran.com/top-50-japanese-buzzwords-2014/
Continuing an annual tradition here on Gakuran.com, I’m back translating the Japanese buzzwords for 2014. Fresh new expressions and frequently used phrases from this year, providing a glimpse into the national psyche. The list is compiled every year by Jiyu Kokuminsha, publishing 50 nominees and then choosing the top 10 winning words in early December. …

I want my DOLLY!

Chief grip, best boy, dolly operator, you gotta love the terminology in the movies! Dolly refers to a shot where the camera is mounted on rails and pushed along, either to get closer to or further from the subject, or to track them sideways as they move along. Of course if you're only shooting with small cameras, a set of rails is overkill, and instead neat tabletop solutions come into play.

Here's a great gadget I bought at the B&H superstore during my last visit to New York - it's a REVO DS-4 tabletop dolly with the optional articulated arm, supporting a Canon PowerShot GX 1 II I was filming  with today; the actual photo was taken with the Sony RX100 III, and you'll see the actual dolly results from both in my reviews at Cameralabs soon.

The base costs $34 by itself or just under $70 with the articulated arm mounting. I've only used it a few times so far, but if you have a smooth surface to push it along, the results look really classy! If you want to give your movies a professional edge, I'd recommend checking it out. Here's the link to it at the B&H store:

Finally, Japanese mobile phone carriers will be forced to remove sim locks. I hope this leads to more competition and cheaper prices all around. http://www3.nhk.or.jp/news/html/20140714/k10015991221000.html
