Excellent list … some beautiful classics included, all worth your time.
During the 1920s art house cinema was beginning to gain its reputation as respectable filmmaking. This opened the doors for even more radical types of movies, one that would even question the basi

EXPOSURE is the long-awaited debut album from Reverse Commuter, a project of the multi-faceted Los Angeles-based producer Kenneth James Gibson. Featuring collaborations as well as solo productions, this kaleidoscopic set of songs gives a bird’s eye view into the influences and techniques that make Gibson’s music a special experience. Reverse Commuter joins [a]pendics.shuffle and the band Bell Gardens – among other pseudonymous projects – as distinctive musical activities of Kenneth Gibson, with Reverse Commuter showcasing an adventurous and song-focused electronic music sound. From the first track, the subdued and haunting “Take It”, the design becomes clear … EXPOSURE presents a sonic world that exists to get inside one’s skin. Kelly Johnston affirms this with her alluring vocal contribution to two of the album’s more evocative tracks: “Still Voice Convincing” and “Icarus”. EXPOSURE’s seduction completely takes over on “Whispers In”, featuring Douglas J McCarthy (Nitzer Ebb, Recoil) providing a masterful vocal performance over Gibson’s pulsating, otherworldly soundscape and rhythm. The full nine tracks complete the spell, an audio conjuration that holds the listener within an entrancing web. As Kelly Johnston states on EXPOSURE’s third track, “Do you see it? Do you feel through it?”

Here's a short interview I recently did with my friends at DeepWit Recordings where I chat about my work with +8DPromo, music software & hardware, 40 year old samurai films, etc … !
You probably know who Q-Burns is and I am almost certain if you don't, you've probably heard a track or two of his over the years. What you may not know though, is he runs one of the best and our p...

Ending the year with my Favorite Movies Of 2014.

I haven't really done one of these in a long while. Perhaps the time is now because the list was a little easier to make this year. Last year seemed a bit more difficult as there were a lot more choices vying for the top spot. That said, there have still been some quality selections in 2014, and I'm enthusiastic about my top 10. Go see 'em.

There are plenty I have not seen yet that I have a feeling might shift things around a little (Birdman, Citzenfour, …) so just consider this a highly subjective chart of movies that actually made it before my eyeballs.

OK … here we go:

1. 20,000 Days On Earth
2. Boyhood
3. Particle Fever
4. Jodorowsky’s Dune
5. Under The Skin
6. Snowpiercer
7. Ida
8. The Grand Budapest Hotel
9. Only Lovers Left Alive
10. The Internet's Own Boy

Just barely not making it:
Two Days, One Night
We Are The Best!
The Trip to Italy
Dance Of Reality
Borgman

The most important of the list criteria is that I'm still thinking about the film, even weeks after watching it. Those in the top 5 I think about frequently, sometimes even hauntingly (hello, Under The Skin). The Internet's Own Boy may have placed higher, but I just saw it last week … it certainly gives one a lot to think about.

About my #1: I like Nick Cave, but I don't consider myself a real 'fan.' I don't think I own any of his albums. But I'm crazy about this movie. As I commented to my girlfriend after we watched it, I wish I had a five minute version of it to play whenever I'm feeling down and uncreative … 20,000 Days On Earth made me want to go out and immediately do cool stuff.

Yours?

+Josh Musser - I think Grand Budapest Hotel is my third favorite W. Anderson flick (after Rushmore and Bottle Rocket). It exists in its own made up world, which helps make all the Anderson 'quirks' fit a bit more naturally than they did in earlier efforts. It's a lot of fun, and the characters (and actors) are great.

+Hallucienda is a new label project I've launched with DJ Three. Below is a teaser trailer for the debut album from Reverse Commuter we're releasing next month. That's Douglas J. McCarthy from Nitzer Ebb walking around (and making the singing noises). If you're looking for some pretty exciting and envelope-pushing electronic music then please consider following +Hallucienda on the Google+ machine. Thanks!
