"After all, that’s how science works, isn’t it?"
The Sugar Conspiracy In 1972, a British scientist sounded the alarm that sugar – and not fat – was the greatest danger to our health. But his findings were ridiculed and his reputation ruined. How did the world’s top nutrition scientists get it so wrong for...

Media and Science via John Oliver
A question: why isn't science making sure the message is accurate. A more fundamental question: is science, and the questions asked, actively shaped by media.

One of the worst managed stores I have ever encountered. Phone not answered. Manager unavailable. Employees who do not do their jobs. Simply awful.

Fast internet, at least that. Phone and "cable" at high prices. Unreliable channels. Some standard services that competitions provides are nonexistent, for a higher price.

My wife asked for extra sauce. The guy said he would do that. He did not mention a charge. When we got home and opened our bag, no sauce at all. We were not even given the choice to pay extra for the extra sauce and then given no sauce. When I returned to the store to ask for the sauce I had paid for they did just that with a half-hearted apology. I left the store and came back in to make sure they understood that I had driven home and came back to get the sauce. They said basically nothing, then I as was walking out the cashier said a big sarcastic Merry Christmas. As I turned around to say something she cut me off and informed me that it was Christmas and that she was wishing me a Merry Christmas because she was supposed to be happy. Please note that the first two times in the store no Christmas greetings were there. Congrats. Louie's actually used "Merry Christmas" for the opposite meaning of word. Now, that is really what makes Christmas what it is to Louie's apparently. Well, Merry Christmas back, in just the snarky way she meant it. Minus one customer.

"If the retailer thinks they are one thing on Tuesday and another on Friday, what is the customer supposed to think?’” This target is going through an identity crises of magnificent proportions. Managers are lackadasical (and that is being kind) and the entire store reminds one much more of a Walmart than a Target. The pharmacy here is still one of the best in the city but the shopping experience in other departments has been on a steady downhill course. I am not sure exactly why they have hired managers that do not understand their customers, or care to understand their customers, or even pretend to understand their customers, but sometimes the why is not important. After one bad shopping experience after another, I have given up trying to complain and hoping things will improve. It is sad. The pharmacy is excellent but the shopping experience that used to be fun surrounding a trip to the pharmacy is just awful now.
