Tell Big Plastic to Stop Undermining CA's Bag Ban! Sign the petition below to show your support. I am already in the habit now of bringing reusable bags when I go shopping. It wasn't a hard transition and I feel good about the change. https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/sign-the-petition-tell-big-plastic-not-to-overturn-cas-bag-ban?source=direct_link&

Google+ seems to deleting my posts if they link to my own blog. I tried it several times and I also tried it on this forum and the post disappears very shortly after posting it. I can't post the link here because then the post won't show. What's the deal? My blog is at michaelcrossonlaw dot com. Thanks!

Interesting family law article from Down Under that discusses the dangers of parents with failing relationships who use social media as a war zone. It is important for parents to minimize the stress and anxiety for their children when a relationship breaks down. Courts and mediators are going to frown a lot on parents who drag their problems into the open on Facebook and the like. Don't do it! #childcustody   #socialmedia   #divorce   #divorceattorney

All parents need to know that they can be charged with a crime for kidnapping their own children. This is true even regardless of whether you have joint or even sole custody. Kidnapping is a serious felony under state and (sometimes) federal law. The relevant statutes are codified in California Penal Code 207-209.5. A key element of the crime includes moving a person "a substantial distance"

A related, lesser crime is called Child Abduction aka Interference with Child Custody. California Penal Code Section 278.5 makes it a crime for one parent to to maliciously deprive the other parent of their custody rights or deny visitation. The language of the statute is rather broad and includes taking, enticing, keeping, witholding or concealing a child from his or her lawful custodian. Child Abduction can be charged as a felony or misdemeanor. #kidnapped   #childcustody #familylaw

Some people will go to great extremes to avoid child support. Sooner or later, it catches up to most of them.

In a move so boneheaded, I consider it suicidal, Evernote recently decided to limit their free service to 2 devices and cap monthly data at a paltry 60mb. Even worse, they raised the rate for Premium customers by an astonishing 40% without any additional features! Clearly Evernote has lost their way and simply become greedy. Evernote users are livid and looking for other solutions. I compiled 21 options to explore on my "Law Tech Geek" blog. Enjoy!

In a 6-2 decision, the Supreme Court today ruled that "reckless" domestic assaults can be considered misdemeanor crimes to restrict gun ownership under 18 U. S. C. §922(g)(9). The reckless clarification expands the net of protection on the Federal firearms ban. Under the Court's holding the wrongful conduct does not have to be knowing or intentional (a higher standard). Reckless means with conscious disregard of a substantial risk of harm. Closing this loophole is an important victory for women's rights and domestic violence advocacy groups. (Voisine v. United States, No. 14–10154)
