-- all countries set to join the #UNHRC
this week. Coincidentally, all countries we've been seeing a lot of video activism from lately--videos that don't shed the best light on their candidacy. To begin with, in Cuba, dissidents are using limited technology and internet access to document protest movements and repression by authorities on peaceful demonstrations. Activists, for instance, say this video, taken early this year, is the reason why rapper and dissident Angel Yunier Remón, "#ElCritico" is in prison. They also report he is near death in a hunger strike behind bars. Because of censorship, the lack of access to activists, and the highly politicized situation, it's difficult to assess with certainty what is true. I'd love to hear any insight on El Critico's case.
