If you're not familiar with the term 'crowd sourcing', its the use of public energies to achieve a goal that would normally require focused effort by a smaller but more specialized group. A group of people playing the game diagnosed malaria within 1.25% of the accuracy of an actual pathologist. I'm sure with a little thought, there are many many more problems we could help solve by making them fun and letting unwitting persons do the work our brains are so much faster at than computers.
