Look at that pretty notebook ... I want that 3200x1800 infinity touch display.  At 276ppi its nearly as high as my Xperia's 424 on a much larger screen. Wow.

The rationale bring that there's no money for anything but this is still sad...
A Republican-controlled House panel on Wednesday approved deep spending cuts to Amtrak's budget just hours after a deadly crash in Philadelphia.

Who said nobody writes long reviews anymore?
You could practically make a movie out of this one.

I'm so very glad my job doesn't involve thinking movies through too much. I watched A:AoU with the wife and the big kids, and we loved it... while it was happening. I think I was aware there were issues (c'mon, that memory pool bit?), but the spectacle of the movie overrode a lot of my misgivings / concerns. I totally need to see it again, either to clear up whether it's "good" or not, or just to bask in the chaos.

My favourite description thus far of the movie, said by Alex Corea of The Attack (on Twitch) was (and I'm paraphrasing) "take a bunch of cutlery and throw it in a blender. That's the last twenty minutes..."

The UK has over 10% of the population of the USA and a much higher density, so at best the number should be 10x higher or thereabouts.

It's nice to see that the move to SD option is back (#Android 5 on Xperia Z2).

I will watch it ... I love entertaining television and I can see more and more producers moving to #Netflix to get the freedoms they want to make the material they're interested in creating.  No need to get approval from sponsors, just attract viewers.

A British tabloid says Clarkson, May, Hammond, and Top Gear producer Andy Wilman are in talks with the streaming video giant.

So James Comey, they new director of the FBI wants to eliminate online banking, health care and safe personal communications ... because he doesn't value your security.

Patrick O'Neill writes: "There has not been a tradeoff between liberty and security in our response to terrorism in this country and in our efforts to offer security to the people of the United States," said James Comey, now the director of the FBI. Comey was the number two man in the Department of...

I hear the phrase "Snoopers Charter" and just weep.

I'm sure it's nothing to worry about...

Just a random email musing, but why don't email programs offer to store local data like spam databases in an imap folder? That way the user's preferences could be easily synchronized across computers.

Tall opinionated computer guy
Introduction
I tend to think a lot, and I make a living doing a lot of computer related stuff.  I enjoy photography, coding, gaming, music and movies and spending time with my family.

See http://mikebabcock.ca/aboutme for some more of my idiosyncrasies and my personality profile.

As for G+, I post about whatever I find interesting at the moment -- I don't have anything to plug or push on anyone except my thoughts.  If I share a product or website, its because I actually value it or found it interesting.

I love photography, and art in general, I enjoy good stories, books, video games and movies.  I'm an expert in many things computer-related, including networking, Linux, programming and a variety of database and hardware thing-a-ma-bobs.

Feel free to ask me random computer questions if you see me online, I may be busy, and I may not know, but if I do I try to help out.  Mind you, if you're making money off my answers, send me some of it ;-).
