Free motion quilting myths busted!
My journey to free motion quilting was a long and winding one, peppered with a lot of obstacles, most of which were myths in my own head. I know I'm not alone in believing them. I thought it's time we talk about them more openly and see if we can't get rid of a few obstacles for some of you too.

Trying to make some decisions with this quilt!
If you follow me on Instagram (@quiltmatters), you've probably seen my photos from our workshop with Lizzy House. I'll admit that I wasn't so keen on the Meadow Quilt pattern at first, but I love Lizzy's fabric. Don't get me wrong, her Meadow quilt is gorgeous, but it's not really my style.

Something fun to do on those rainy days or when you are waiting with your kids.
I carry a sketchbook in my purse and have for about five years now. At first, it was so I could jot or draw ideas for quilts while I was out and about. When you are a full-time parent of young kids, there is so little in your life that feels like it is yours and yours alone.

Washington DC through my camera lens...
What with the crazy Spring we had in the Quilt Matters household and not knowing what would happen with my mom's treatment, we didn't plan a trip out East this summer and well, didn't plan anything for the summer really. When she finished her treatment and things were looking good though, ...

TGIFF! Is on at Quilt Matters this week. Bring those finishes and check out the beautiful link ups.
It may not be completely finished and it may look simple, but getting this top finished feels like a huge accomplishment -- so I'm celebrating Thank Goodness The Top Is Finished! Yeah, yeah, I know, it's not really a true TGIFF!, but we had an unexpected opening in our TGIFF! host schedule this ...

Something new...
In April, I took a quilt design class with Elizabeth Olwen, surface designer. She has a great aesthetic. It was such a fun day -- hanging out with Elizabeth and the OMQG folks, designing, and quilting. Bliss. I went into the class wanting to break my solids streak. Don't get me wrong, ...

A great quilty read!
Looking for a good quilty read? Try The Improv Handbook for Modern Quilters by Sherri Lynn Wood. I won it in a giveaway from The Quilting Edge (thanks Marianne!) about a month ago. I've read it from cover to cover. Every single word. I love how Sherri Lynn organized the book with 'scores' rather ...

TGIFF! is on at Quilt Matters. Grab those quilty finishes and link up.
Welcome to TGIFF! I seem to be suffering from work-in-progress-itis. I'm making good progress on several projects, but nothing is close to being completely finished. Carsick and Bubbles for Malcolm are even halfway quilted. I did finish my Colour Pop top though, just in time for TGIFF! Woo hoo!

Mulling over quilting ideas...
I'm working away on little Malcolm's Bubbles quilt. The quilting is coming along. So far we have stitch in the ditch around the bubbles and some straight lines on the dark grey side: Next, I'm mulling over what to do with the bubbles. Pulled out the trial quilting sheets and the dry erase ...

AGF Stitched Blog hop today!
Welcome to the Fractal Blog Hop hosted by the Fat Quarter Shop and sponsored by Art Gallery Fabrics! The Fat Quarter Shop provided the free Fractal Quilt pattern and a great video tutorial and Art Gallery Fabrics provided the eye candy. Oh, and the Fat Quarter Shop has a Fractal Quilt Kit too!

A tablet case for the new precious...
Hello darlings and welcome to TGIFF! The place where every finish deserves a party! I have to say that it was looking dodgy about whether I'd have a finish to share (again) this month. I have several projects on the go, but nothing close enough to being finished. Until yesterday.

Happy Canada Day, Eh!
Hi everyone, I hope the weather is better in your neck of the woods -- raining here. It had better clear up in time for the fireworks tonight. We take our fireworks seriously around here! Things are looking up. My mom finished her treatments yesterday so now we wait to see how well they worked.

I love to quilt! I have a WIP list a mile long, but that doesn't stop me from starting new projects. I always learn something new and I share it on my blog -- www.quiltmatters.blogspot.com
