Living in San Diego, we are surrounded by Heroes each and every day, if you see someone in the service this weekend, Thank Them.
May 16th is Armed Forces Day. The first Armed Forces Day was celebrated on Saturday, May 20, 1950. The original idea was to express the unification of all military forces under one government department.
Today Armed Forces Day is observed the third Saturday in May as part of Armed Forces week to honor and pay tribute to the men and women who have served all branches of the military including, Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard and the DOD. We are thankful to all that have answered the call to serve.

AMAZING Place, so many books and collections of every type and interest. I felt like I never wanted to leave and there is even a Kitty in Residence, Otis let me pet him and play, Homey and comfortable places to sit, lots to look at and a warren of rooms to explore. Wish I could have transported that store to my home in San Diego! Yes the prices are high, but if you are a collector looking for that ONE book that you HAVE to have, this is your place, I bought several of their clearance books for a buck, so I went away very happy.

Postal Connections has a great variety of services available and the staff is always ready with a smile. They rent mail boxes, sell supplies, make keys, have ink and ink cartridges and if you need a computer for an hour, you can go in and rent theirs! I recommend them for all Postal Needs.

My very first trip to the Hollywood Bowl on September 20th for the Sound of Music Sing Along! I had won my tickets from TCM and was very excited to go, we drove up from San Diego - traffic was a problem on the way there, but not on the way back. What a great venue! - the sound system was fantastic and there were so many people - they said about 16,000 for the event. I thought the staff was great and it was a lot of fun. One drawback and disappointment is that their bathrooms are unacceptably inadequate for the amount of people that they can pack into that place. Lines were extremely long and then you get to the ladies room and there are only 3 stalls!!! NOT GOOD. That was the CLOSE restroom, the one further away from the venue was up a very steep hill and the line was twice as long during intermission. So 4 stars just for that reason. If they improve the restrooms, they would get 5 from me! One tip - PACK A PICNIC SUPPER! The food choices are ok, but limited and of course costly as you would expect from a tourist venue. Parking was a bit strange, stacked , cost at $17 - $30 depending on how close you wanted to be and you have to wait for a bit when you leave, but if you go to the restrooms before you leave, as we did, the wait is done there and by the time you get done, you can easily exit parking.
