A cool virtual tour of sorts for those of us who can't get an invite to visit the heritage center ourselves.
We spent a few hours in the company of some legendary cars this week.

Fantastic tech grafted on to a factory car that you could buy, keeping drivers safe at race speeds. Very cool stuff.
Or, how Jan Magnussen walked away from a massive crash at Le Mans this year.

I am calling this one early: the Apple Watch is a bust and it is going to stay that way. Wearables just aren't a real product category for most people today. Not sure, as a Moto 360 owner, that I can say nice things about Android Wear at this point, either.
Why is the Apple Watch not doing so great in sales? Check out this story by our friends at Fast Company.

Evidently, pizza farms is a thing.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — As the farm-to-table movement connects more consumers with local farmers, some farms have shortened the distance between the plow and the plate. They’re inviting customers over for pizza. On Wednesday nights when…

If you are expecting help from Netflix when their app doesn't work,  take it from my experience today: they will deflect the issues and send you to another company for help.

After over an hour of support calls between Google and Netflix, both parties blamed each other for the app failure and neither will take responsibility for fixing it.

If you have a curiosity about the issues and want to see all the other folks seeing the same issue, you can find them at the link below. I won't be holding my breath for either company to jump in and fix the issue soon.

In preparation for the arrival of Windows 10, I did the unthinkable and re-installed a hard drive in my system and re-loaded, from DVD no less, Windows 7. It was a painful experience that I don't recommend to anyone, but I learned some things that were lost for a while:

1. Hard drives as your primary boot disk suck. I had forgotten this in the move to SSD drives a few years ago. Everything you do is slower on a hard disk. If you aren't running an SSD as your main drive, go out and and buy one RIGHT NOW.

2. Installing Windows from scratch is unnecessarily lengthy and painful. On several systems I have had to setup Ubuntu or Linux Mint from scratch and in all of them I was fully operation within an hour or so. Win7, on the other hand, took all day to load, reboot dozens of times, accept EULAs, patch and update.

3. If you have to scratch install Windows, please use WUInstall. It is a time saver (after I found it) and made the many hours of updates run with very little human intervention.

4. Modern PCs have lots of complicated and specialized hardware. Running an older OS required downloading driver installers for everything, and many of them required service packs and add-ons from Microsoft. Sometimes to move ahead we need to leave the old behind, and device driver installers should be left behind. Run new OS's, people.

5. Considering how painful this upgrade process is, I have a better understanding of why the PC industry continues to shrink. Compared with the pain of updating, patching, installing and fixing all of my hardware was, running out to buy the latest phone or tablet is blissfully simple. And when the OS updates come over-the-air for those devices, they are many times smaller and faster than any PC update process known today.

In short, don't do what I did unless you have a lot of time and patience or enjoy searching around the internet to learn why your shiny new PC doesn't work properly.

+Micah Stroud ok that's what I thought. I hadden't seen mention of upgrading for those running the test builds. Well I'm glad I just got my win7 back up to date and my machine ready for it. I guess since release is only a couple weeks from now and I already registered for the upgrade, I will just enjoy win7 for the time being and upgrade when promoted. I do hope it is unlike 8.1. I watched a few recent reviews on youtube about the test builds and it seems with every build something else major changes so I hope the final is as great as they are saying. Thanks for taking the time to chat with me and I'm glad you got your computer ready for the upgrade.

Many folks will tell you that no one needs a real photo camera any more, that the phone you carry around with you all day is enough. Let me present information to the contrary.

Below are two pictures taken while standing in nearly the same location, one with a LG Nexus 5 Android smartphone and one with my clunky old Canon 10D DSLR. You tell me which one shows what is going on better.

I also walked across the street to take a few more shots next to the fence with the Canon. I've added one more photo in for that, too.

If you are looking to purchase a new C7 Corvette, it appears you may have to have to wait in line.
After averaging fewer than 1,200 monthly spring sales in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013, the launch of the C7 presented Chevrolet with more than 3,000 sales in March and in April and in May 2014. Surely that’s all because of pent-up demand, right? After the C6 battled quite respectably through a recession, the craziness of …

These folks are the ones I now call on whenever I need a ride from DTW into downtown and back again. After trying a couple other services whose drivers were late, didn't show at all, or simply couldn't pick me up downtown, I switched to Diplomat. I'm glad that I did as they have been on time and have gotten me to the airport with time to spare each time I have asked for them. It really is worry free for me to book and use these folks whenever I need transportation.
