Have you seen me? Hello, I am an empty lot. I exist in your neighborhood. I'm just a big patch of dirt and some trash. I make my neighbors feel uneasy and sad. No one likes me and it makes me sad too. All over, it is a lose-...

If you sleep on getting De La Soul's catalog TODAY, kids, you have wasted your Valentine's Day (and maybe your entire February). So hard to find these albums on most music subscription sites, so this is a great way to listen to some of the most creative hip-hop ever recorded. Then go buy the physical discs to share the love.

We found out that Ben is deathly allergic to tree nuts when he had his fateful experience with cashews last August. It was his first allergic reaction, so we didn't have an EpiPen on hand. Fortunately, Carrie realized quickly what was happening, and Ben was off in an ambulance within minutes.

For a trivial cost, schools should keep EpiPens stocked, should the same event happen to what is now 1 in 13 children.

No one should lose a child, sibling or friend due to inability to help during the early onset of allergic reactions, particularly in places where our children are required to be and which do not screen for peanuts, tree nuts, dairy and other significant allergens, whose mere exposure can trigger anaphylaxis.

Contact your CA state senator via the link below to show your support for SB 1266, which would require schools to keep epinephrine on hand. It takes <2 minutes.

As a longtime AppleTV fanboy, it's exciting to see Chromecast open up to 3rd parties to make 'casting available not just from top-tier media providers but also the rest of the Web.

After taking a shower this afternoon, I managed to spot this nearly-3-inch-long spider in the mirror crawling on the backside of towel with which I was drying off. Seems to be a Zoropsis spinimana per http://www.ipm.ucdavis.edu/PMG/PESTNOTES/pn74143.html — (And yes, he's still alive and will be on his way to the California Academy of Sciences tomorrow.)

Greeted by name most times, this neighborhood Jamba Juice offers great gluten-free smoothies that can satisfyingly replace a meal most days (especially if you ask for them to add peanut butter). Frequent Buy One/Get One discounts, too, and it's conveniently next to several restaurants, a drugstore, bagel shop and a Starbucks (so you can fold several trips into one).

Pad Thai was flavorful, service was quick for pickup, the staff very friendly, and (and this is an important "and") they have what Midwesterners know as "crab rangoon" (e.g. deep fried, cream-cheese-filled wonton wrappers folded up into a 4-pointed appetizer).

Food was good (although not amongst the best Italian I've had in the area), ambiance was fine (a bit noisy, nothing fancy), and the wait staff was courteous (but not overly attentive). Cash only, so plan ahead as there's no ATM.
