NEWS RELEASE
Zika Forces Miami Tour Company To Cancel Wynwood Tours

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 3, 2016

Miami, Florida, USA: Due to the recent statement issued by the Center For Disease Control, Miami Tour Company, a tour bus operator in Miami, Florida, will immediately stop walking tours at the Wynwood Walls until the neighborhood is safe.

New assessments by public health officials have found persistent mosquito populations and additional Zika infections in the Wynwood neighborhood. This information suggests there is a risk of transmission of the Zika virus in that area. As a result, CDC and Florida have issued travel recommendations for people traveling to Miami.

“The Wynwood Walls is a main stop on our tour. Customers often say, visiting Wynwood is a highlight of their day” said Miami Tour Company’s Director Gus Moore. “Not allowing our passengers to get off the bus in Wynwood will hurt business, but our passenger's safety is more important.”

Based on the confirmation of local Zika transmission in Miami, CDC has updated its Interim Zika Response Plan and has released the Zika Community Action Response Toolkit to help when transmission is identified.

Miami Tour Company’s owner, Michelle Moore says “the Zika spread only affects our Miami To The Max! Tour. The Key West and Everglades Tours are safe for now. We will continue to monitor this issue closely and work with Florida public health officials to stay informed.”
