Some good reasons why iOS8 sucks. But there are solutions. So let's be responsible. Create better user experience. Don’t follow bad patterns and stereotypes. Don’t forget about ergonomics.

It took +Jonathan Rosenberg  and me a decade of experimentation and reflection to come up with the rules we captured in How Google Works. With this video, you can learn the key points in about three minutes. I guess things really are speeding up in the Internet Century!

Kudos to +TheDrawShop  for this fun video recap of #HowGoogleWorks.

Across industries and around the world, technology is shaking up the old rules of business at what seems like a faster rate every day. Thanks to the internet, mobile devices and cloud computing, consumers are more empowered than ever, and individuals and small teams have the tools to make a huge impact.

To keep up, every business will have to adapt. This represents an incredible challenge, and an enormous opportunity. Over the course of the decade we spent leading Google, +Jonathan Rosenberg   and I had to relearn everything we thought we knew about running a successful business. To help you build from what we discovered, we’ve put together this brief guide with our rules for success in the Internet Century.

We hope it serves to encourage and inspire you. If you find it useful, there’s much more in our book at HowGoogleWorks.net.

Another example of when marketing is deemed more important than User Experience. http://www.slrlounge.com/canon-disappoints-millions-countdown-dud/

The UX fail here is - not meeting user expectations / not putting the user first

#fail   #userexperience   #baduserexperience
Canon made news this weekend around the photography news circuit, as they posted a countdown teaser website. This morning that time expired and what was revealed left us all scratching our heads in disappointment.

Great comment by +Armando Ferreira . According to Apple this watch is 3 years in the making however it feels like a disconnected product - the UX isn't complementary to the other iOS devices. I'm aware that you cannot have the same functionality in a watch that you get on a phone but consistency is being overlooked here.... a cohesive, concurrent UI design hasn't been implemented from the initial observations  - how can a product that's been in development for 3 years overlook this very basic user requirement.

To me this is a product that's been thrown together to meet the demands of a market in which competitors have alright shown what is potentially capable. The Apple Watch in its current form looks like a prototype product in my opinion.....a revision1 concept. Jony Ive commented that the Apple watch will "screw up" the Swiss (watch) economy....based on aesthetics alone , I don't think the Swiss are losing any sleep.

+Marques Brownlee if you take the Apple logo away from the iPhone 6 would people stand up and cheer so much as if Apple had invented something revolutionary?  If I recall from discussions of many iPhone users the response has always been "I don't need a bigger display, I don't need NFC payment, I don't need (insert Android feature here).

Before people go on a rampage saying "Why do you dislike Apple so much" It's not that I dislike them, it's that I'm not settling for something that has been available since 2012.  It's like if Porsche came out tomorrow and said they now have GPS on their cars.  It's disappointing that a company who has set so many trends is now looking at it's competitors to adapt and slowly improve on their eco system.

The sad thing is the whole sapphire crystal display on the iPhone 6 if true would have been something great for Apple even though it was expected based on rumors.  It was at least something that other manufacturers weren't doing.  I think all the upgrades to the iPhone are welcome and all I can say is It's about time!!  But I really do want Apple to bring something awesome to bring more competition to Android and other mobile OS.  But as of now it seems Android is it's own competition. hopefully next year?

But back on topic, these watches look like they were made for children.  I'm shocked Jony Ive who could be considered a master designer would come out with this.  I honestly didn't expect this from Apple, it doesn't fit their sleek designs from their other products like the Macbook Air, iPad and all the other products that were developed when Jobs was alive.

Lots of choice on the menu but the food is sub par. To make up for this fact they have made the place look very stylish. Seen as a "fashionable" place to eat especially by the uni students

Reading's only Michelin star restaurant offers class and sophistication. The food is amazing... it goes without saying that the chefs know their trade very well. As to be expected prices are more higher than your usual eateries however it is great for that special occasion

Chilis is the only genuine Indian restaurant in Newbury - the other Indian restaurants aren't actually run by Indians , they are either Nepalese or Bengali owned restaurants offering their twists on Indian dishes - this is not a negative however authentic Indian cooking is better from an authentic Indian owned resturant. Having said that Chilis offers an above average indian food experience, the food is good and the selection is wide and varied. There is not a lot of room in the restaurant due to this a lot of food is ordered to take-away however if you go go their to eat then you have the benefit of good service, the staff are nice and polite...if your unsure of any dish they encourage you to ask, which is something often lacking in most Restaurants. Quick Tip: If you are used to spicy food make sure you tell them to make it more spicy when you order. The food is made for a mild palette therefore lacking spice unless mentioned otherwise.

Lovely place. Brown's has all the essence for a great night out. A nice bar for a drink and a good selection of food for an evening meal. Some nights (I forget which) they have a live piano player which adds to the ambiance.

I Must say I love this place. A lovely experience of Pan-Asian food. The restaurant follows the same concept as Wagamamas however the experience is so much personal. When you sit down you are greeted by staff and served complementary oriental tea while you make your food selection. You are not rushed to eat you food in Tampopo unlike wagamamas where you constantly feel like staff are pushing you to eat faster so they can turn the tables. There is also a small shop inside the restaurant should you wish to buy oriental spices oils and ingredients. Cant wait to go again, the hardest decision is what to order next from the menu

A nice, stylish, contemporary Indian restaurant overlooking the river. A wide selection on the menu and food presentation is great. Quick note: Parking around the restaurant is limited and the traffic wardens are quick to act...a bit like predatory sharks...cars getting towed in this area is a regular occurrence. find a safe car park or parking spot and walk
