Interesting read.

"They have this unbelievably flat affect that's really palpable when you look in their eyes."

We spoke with neuroscientist Kent Kiehl about what's it like to spend 20 years listening to psychopaths for the sake of research:

  • Valkieser Multi Media

My last attempt to take shelter under the safe payroll umbrella of a company. Guided two apprentice designers and myself through several multimedia design projects, including FreeRom, a free lifestyle magazine on CD-ROM, distributed by Burger King and a number of other retailers. Apart from being the first commercial CD-ROM magazine in the Netherlands, FreeRom contained a number of innovative features for that time, such as a fuzzy search and context-sensitive advertisements by connecting to internet. After almost a year I decided to return to freelancing once and for all, because I started to miss the variation and freedom of being an independent professional.

Set up the Jaytown production division for the Spin multimedia company, together with a partner. Created several multimedia software products and games for the advertisement industry during that period. Resigned to return to the varied world of freelancing. Changed my one-man company name into Seven's Heaven for a fresh start.
  • Van Dijk Multimedia

  • IJsfontein
    Senior 3D modeler & animator, 2000 - 2001
Project-based freelance employment on location to co-realize the production of an innovative interactive animated television series called Tattletoons. In 2001 the series won an EMMA multimedia award in Cannes and was exposed in Time Magazine as a pioneering project in the field of interactive television.
  • Divo Publishing
    Magazine editor, 1989 - 1989
Worked at Divo Publishing as an author and editor for Amiga Magazine, a commercial Dutch / Flemish magazine that was dedicated to the Commodore Amiga computer range. Resigned soon after an offer from the Comic House agency I couldn't refuse.
  • Metin Seven Digital Art Productions
    Freelance digital graphics creator, 1989 - 1995
My initial company as a freelance computer graphics creator. Projects included co-creating 10 episodes of the animated television series 'Mannetje & Mannetje' for VPRO television at the Dutch Comic House studio. During this period I also co-created a number of internationally published computer games and two music editors. The titles, in chronological order: 1: Sidmon (music editor, 1989), 2: Venomwing (shoot-'em-up game, 1990), 3: Digital Mugician (sequel to Sidmon, 1990), 4: Hoi (platform game, 1992), 5: Cognition (puzzle game, 1993), 6: Clockwiser (puzzle game, 1994). 7: Moon Child (platform game, initial Amiga version in 1995. The game was later redeveloped for Valkieser New Media, and released in 1997). In 1992 I co-created the first custom-made computer game to appear in a (Dutch) television commercial, for Calvé peanut-butter. It was also the first Dutch commercial with a length of one minute, and the live-action part featured the debut of the Dutch actress Lieke van Lexmond. After the commercial aired on television, the Calvé Peanut-Butter Power Game was played by kids in the popular RTL 4 children's matinee Telekids, where they could win their length in stacked peanut-butter jars. In early 1993 I co-created the first and second demonstration in the world for the new generation of Amiga computers, before Commodore's official hardware guides were published. The demos were titled Planet Groove and Mindwarp, forming part 1 and 2 of the Hoi sAGA demo trilogy, and were used in computer stores around the world to show off the capabilities of the new Amiga generation. The Amiga system was superior to Windows PCs and Macs since its introduction in 1985, until the Commodore company went bankrupt in 1994 because of bad management, to much regret of many dedicated Commodore users, including myself.
