Trolling has become an effective, but dangerous political device the ethics of which are not questioned. The urban dictionary defines it as the act of using emotions, lies, false accusations and broken logic to undermine your political opponent. The Fifth Estate cannot gain traction against it in the unbridled world of social media. The absence of widespread fact-checking has made trolling a default path to power driven by personal agendas rather than the common good. This New Yorker reflection is especially relevant during this week’s GOP convention.

LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman knew when to exit. Microsoft is paying a rich price ($26 billion cash) for a valuable social media asset. We've seen this scenario many times (think Google's acquisition of YouTube and Yahoo buying Tumblr).
