How Simple Science and Interesting Things came to be

Try reading this as an Objective Step—by—Step recollection of events, since the intention of this Sticky is for others to possibly relate to this type of scenario, and maybe even share their similar stories

Special Thanks to the Main Actors (these are the people who, through their Inflexibility and/or Power Tripping, led to the creation and initial drive behind this Community):

Like many of us, i was thrilled when G+ introduced communities, and promptly joined those that matched my interests: this included the two main 'science' communities in the platform:

and
https://plus.google.com/communities/111298192566988133095

Business was as usual, until on 11th December 2013 one of my posts was removed from Science on G+

I proceeded to provide feedback to the mods on how to better handle posts that have high popularity, instead of overzealously enforcing their 'guidelines' to the detriment of the community members. Moderator's Egos started to Power—Trip: i highlighted how similar posts of mine had not been eliminated, and had been very well—received

and

They quickly removed those posts because their guidelines said so. I then invited them to remove a post, posted by another moderator, that similarly mismatched their guidelines

It remains untouched to the day of this posting.

This process wasn't working for me. These people had forgotten what 'Science' is about, and had instead created 'Academia' communities, under the guise of science.

On Science on Google+ things were heading in the same direction, with one of the mods telling me that only one post in the 'Science Bytes' section was allowed per day per user, and when i used one of my pages to post a second post within 24 hours they complained about that too, thus demonstrating that their Overzealous Rules are just a façade to enforce their whims. Now even following their rules was not ok?

Simple Science and Interesting Things was created and 1,000 people rallied within the first 5 days
