On 21 April 2015 at around 3 PM, at St. John's Hospital signal (water tank signal) in Koramangala, there was a mound of mud in the middle of the road, probably left by BBMP or BWSSB or some other department who had dug up the road.
The traffic policeman who was manning this signal quietly took a shovel and made the mound level so as to not inconvenience the drivers.
He didn't need to do what he did, he didn't complain or crib about having to do it. He just quietly did what needed to be done.
I couldn't get a picture of his face, but I was very impressed by his action.
There are many quiet, unsung heroes in the traffic police department who attend to their duty sincerely. Salutes to all of them!

I don’t have an autobiography to post here. People who know me, know me well and I don’t need to write up a lot here. And now the question is about people who don’t know me. Um………. that sounds interesting. However I’m not a hotshot that people around here should be curious enough to know about me.
Well then.. Why do I need to write about me. The reason is quite simple – the page should have some content. So here we go.
I am Melvin Jose Thannickal. My name is Melvin, Jose is my father’s name and that rather unfamiliar sounding name is my family name (or rather house name as it is known in the place I come from). I was born on 16th August 1986 and brought up in Kerala – a small, beautiful green strip at the south of India – often referred as ‘God’s own country’ ( well………. that can be disputed). I grew up in a village nested in the folds of the western ghats in the district of Idukki (Now, that is a really beautiful place and I’m not ready to dispute on that). So, to say I grew up in a place pretty secluded from the complications of the world. I did my schooling there and thats all the time I spend at home.
Later I joined St.Joseph’s College Bangalore for my secondary education. World opened up – it was like being pulled out of a well and put in the wide vast Sahara desert. Spent some two years in Bangalore and at completion of that something happened which we can talk about when you see my so called handsome face. Whatever that be good or bad, that was a life I lived with myself and genuine people – men and women who were merely men and women. Another Life changing decision. Subsequently I landed up back in Karnataka, but this time in Mangalore. Into the world of uncertainty – I found myself sitting in one of those classrooms of St. Aloysius College trying to do my graduation in Computer Application at a time when all I knew about computers were that they were very advanced Televisions.
Relocation again….as part of my graduation I worked on a live project at a small firm at Cochin, once again the same world of uncertainty. While at there to my surprise I designed and developed a Campus Automation System (which I called AutoCamp). I myself am not sure what I did with it. I was working on it by instinct, I had no idea where I was headed. I was confused and I managed to do that to my teachers too – every time I came up with a presentation I had this feeling that my invigilators where either impressed or confused. No matter what befell I walked out with laurels in hand, it just happened. One fine morning I got back to Mangalore and some one told me that there was a campus recruitment drive that day. I decided to give it a try. Since I had not come prepared to attend an interview I walked into the interview with a borrowed shirt and shoes. Lady luck was with me and I landed a job with ITC Infotech.
At ITC, I worked for around a year and half as Offshore Windows Domain Administrator for Insight Inc. Currently I'm working as Remote Client Tech for United Heath Group and all I work on is altiris and windows. My profile as per the company records is “Developer” but I’m trying to figure out the stuff that I’m developing. Not a great work and not what I wanted to do. All that happens… happens for good. So I spend my days………………
Thats all for now.. expect changes when there be changes……
