So close to time for fair food!
Billed as “the best 17 days of summer,” the California State Fair begins Friday and runs through July 26. A slideshow gives a glimpse at the fair as it was being set up.

This would've been really helpful while I was in grad school. Help with citations in Google Docs? Yes, please!

No idea, and it has now been long enough since I've been out of grad school that I would have to refresh my memory on how to do such things. But letting computers do all the things is awesome. :)

None of your business.
Your birthday info will be great for mentions -- and even better for advertisers.

Who doesn't need this on occasion?
After years of experimenting with it as a Labs feature, Google announced that it was formally adding an “undo send” option for web-based Gmail users.

This space has been empty for a long time. Now construction is getting ready to begin to turn it into a WinCo. Kind of exciting to have a WinCo located more conveniently to me. I used to love shopping there back in my Fresno days.
Expect to see signs of new activity at Country Club Plaza this month, when construction of a new WinCo Foods store begins at the Arden-Arcade retail center.

Careful with your photos.
I downloaded Google Photos shortly after it was released, but decided it wasn't for me. A month later, I made a puzzling discovery. VIDEO

Makes sense. I guess I'd probably be unhappy if I was one of the old-gen players, but DA:I looks fantastic on my PS4.

Interesting. Yet many of us are lactose intolerant as adults...
Milk is regarded, along with bread, as one of the staples of the Western diet. But, Veronique Greenwood discovers, that’s only a very recent phenomenon.

Company says it'll still work to satisfy people with Wii U, but I would like to see them really concentrate on that. It really just didn't get enough love, and there are still a lot of games mssing. How old will this gen Nintendo be before a brand new Zelda (and not fighter Hyrule game) is out... Harumph.
Nintendo will continue to make games for its Wii U and 3DS consoles, even once the secretive new 'NX' platform is released

Did you go? I didn't make it this year, but +Sonya Sorich went and shares how easy it is to end up spending a bundle. Plus cool cosplay pics.
The costumes are intriguing. The T-shirts are amusing. The makeup is frightening. But beyond the opportunities for people-watching, pop-culture conventions raise a common question among outsiders. What do people actually do there?

Fascinating. My nephew and niece really love Minecraft. I bet they'd love this kind of event, too.
