Melissa Leu is a multimedia journalist and documentary filmmaker. She currently reports on state and local education issues for The Arizona Republic, the state's largest media outlet.
Previously, she has covered issues such as health care, immigration, state politics and education in print, broadcast and online formats. Her work has been published in the Los Angeles Times, USA Today and NBC Nightly News.
Leu directed her first short documentary "A Family Portrait" in 2010. The film has since played in national and international film festivals, schools and community events, winning multiple awards, including Best Documentary at IndieFest USA. "A Family Portrait" was acquired by the Documentary Channel for broadcast distribution and Parallel Lines for educational distribution.
