Interesting....

SIRIUS: An open-source digital assistant

and provides capabilities akin to SIRI, Cortana and Google NOW.

"Sirius is an end-to-end voice and vision personal assistant. It bundles speech recognition, image matching, natural language processing and a question-and-answer system that executes in the cloud."

It can even accept an image, such as a photograph of a restaurant, and answer a question such as: "When does this place close?". (Not apparent the other personal assistants on the market have this capability yet)

"Speech recognition came from Carnegie Mellon University's Sphinx, Microsoft Research's Kaldi and Germany's RWTH Aachen "RASR" project. The question-and-answer system came from OpenEphyra, which laid the foundation for IBM's Jeopardy-winning Watson. Image recognition came from the SURF computer-vision algorithm behind Swiss tech entrepreneur Herbert Bay's company Kooaba, which was recently acquired by Qualcomm."

"The work was partially funded by Google, ARM, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and the National Science Foundation."

Interesting to see an ad platform before the actual device.

As the first ad platform for Apple Watch launches (before we even have them), Greg Sterling looks at whether ads on wearables will work & challenges they face.
It's still to early to make any definitive pronouncements about wearables and smartwatches, beyond the fact the category is probably here to stay. But like

Google: Definitely nofollow "site designed by..." links on your website

Whether you are a web design agency or had your website built by one, chances are you are proudly displaying "This site was designed by..." link somewhere in the footer.

If so, this is important.

Google's +John Mueller says you need to add a rel="nofollow" attribute to those links.

Watch the video below starting at 19:47 for John Mueller's response.

I definitely need to go change my link at +Traffic Generation Cafe ...

I'm actually surprised they didn't already have a responsive design. Why more companies don't help themselves out....I have no idea.

MTV Increases Mobile Traffic by 92% with a Responsive Design
As crazy as it sounds, many brands have yet to embrace a mobile friendly website. MTV has recently shared the effect of their new responsive website design, and the numbers are quite impressive:
- 92% increase in mobile visits
- 55% increase in mobile page views per visit
- 297% increase in time spent per visit
- 246% increase in social referrals
- 11% drop in exit rates (all devices)

Of course, not every brand will see the same numbers, but in our experience, numbers like these are not only possible, they aren't uncommon.

French search engine looking to gain speed...aka, maybe take market share from Google.

Qwant Wants to Be Alternative to Google - at least in Europe

The French start-up search engine Qwant, released 18 months ago, is tapping into growing anger here that Google has too much control over how Europeans surf the web, reports +The New York Timeshttp://tgcafe.it/1xLpjtn

How does Qwant intend to stand out?

When people use its search engine, four columns appear on the webpage that offer different takes on Internet queries, ranging from traditional search results to something called Qnowledge Graph, which offers general information based on the search, drawn from sites including Wikipedia (similar to Google Knowledge Graph).

Qwant also includes social media posts from services like Twitter directly in search results.

Qwant says it does not track people’s online movements and sells advertising based only on individuals’ search queries.

Qwant also plans to release a child-friendly search engine — Qwant Junior — in early 2015.

Check it out for yourself: https://www.qwant.com/

My personal opinion, it's a bit busy. Sometimes too many results is just that: too many.

One thing I do like about Qwant is the fact that Traffic Generation Café ranks #1 for 'traffic generation'. ;)

Introduction

What I Do. I am the Digital Marketing Director at Blue Compass. I'm continually involved in what's happening in the online world, and conduct my own research and experiments to see what helps increase traffic and conversions for sites.

I don't just read what others have to say about the subject, I am in it day-in and never-out. :) I perform SEO techniques and content marketing for client sites. All of my work really comes down to enhancing websites to be found by bots and loved by humans.

With all of this knowledge, I don't only perform SEO for clients, I also present and teach it...because the only way to help people become better is to teach them.

This church is a Baptist church that stays true to the Word of God. With missions at the heart of the church, Ashworth Road Baptist Church and its members participate in several missions around the metro Des Moines area, Iowa, South Dakota, Mexico and Haiti. Each week there is some sort of missions project to participate in. If you are looking for a church that feels like home, but has lots of opportunities to serve or to get your kids and teens involved, then this is the church you are looking for!

The ambiance was amazing! Met friends around 8:30 at Fire Creek and had a great time. Prefect place to go out for a romantic night. It was well lit like a kind of a candle-light feeling. Fireplaces were running is different rooms. Food was great. I actually didn't have high expectations. What everyone ordered was really good. I would definitely suggest the Brown Sugar Scallops!!! Services was great. Waiter was very attentive and glasses were always full.

“Took my child into Blank Children's Hospital ER after he had a few days of fever and other issues. When we arrived, we were seen immediately. Everyone we met was very nice and the nurse who was attending my son during our stay was extremely caring and very good with our son. It was great to have all of the child-friendly decorations around the halls and the rooms. Inside our exam room was a tv with a dvd player - and they had a ton of kid movies on hand. That really helped pass the time for our son! Thankfully, all he needed was some fluids and after that we were back on our way, but the experience of going to the ER with a kid was a good one! Thanks Blank!”

I had my first child here and was really pleased with the experience, not the labor, but that's a different story. I ended up needing a c-section, but with all the fear that I had about that, the nurses were very helpful and calmed me down. The stay was great! The rooms were big and looked great. The rooms also had everything we needed.
