Once our son started playing sports, snack foods started to eat up more and more of my grocery budget. Finding snacks that are portable, healthier, non-perishable and budget-friendly has been a challenge. Grocery Outlet is new to my area and I think I've found an ally in my snack war. #budgetfriendly   #groceryshopping   #giveawaway

If your kids have never seen a Purple Heart medal, I posted a photo of the one given to my husband's great grandfather after he was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. Happy Veterans Day and thank you for your service!

Last year we started our son's bedroom makeover. He's a hockey player and a huge Detroit Redwings fan. We still have a way to go with the decor but so far he loves it.

It's been fun. My goal is to have at least one piece of furniture made using hockey sticks.

Sassy magazine is the reason I majored in journalism and had dreams of moving to New York to become a writer. Great interview with Jane Pratt from Rookie Magazine.

This comment on the post ---> "Conversations about race happen constantly within families of color, because we have no choice but to equip our kids with knowledge for surviving in this world, and it is a true privilege for white families to choose whether or not to discuss this topic."

There are many links and book recommendations here. Thank you to +Gabrielle Stanley Blair for your post and keeping the conversation going.

Veterans Day Freebies

My husband is in the military. I sent  him several emails with links to Veterans Day freebies and realized I should just make it a blog post.
