Finally changed my "art" profile picture so it is different from my other G+ profiles.  Some of you my have noticed that I now have a separate profile for my creative web work that I do.

Very interesting article about being a creative individual.
What makes someone an artist?

It's been almost 2 years since I finished reading Walking in This World  by Julia Cameron. It would be more accurate to say that I experienced the book rather than to say I read it.  After I completed each chapter I wrote a personal essay to express my feelings and interpretations.

It was a book that influenced my life in many ways. In particular how I think about art and what defines an artist.

I'd always thought about the creative process as the logistics of coming up with an idea and using the tools of the trade whether it be a notebook, a canvas, a flowerbed, or an orchestra to bring a piece of art to life.  I also thought that if you had a day job you couldn't be an artist first, that you weren't a “true artist” until you reached a certain level of notoriety or fame and that the fame must be accompanied by money or it wasn't real.

My experience with this book influenced my opinions on this topic greatly.

It was fun to get the notification that one of my essays was re-published today on Flash Fiction Chronicles.  I hope you enjoy it.

Love this work...
“Even though you may think they came from lying under the stars, for me, they came out of loving the blackness of the pencil.”—The night sky is a subject that Vija Celmins has revisited consistently over her career, as it has served as a vehicle to explore her main concern: the irrefutable flatness of the picture plane and the built-up materials and marks on its surface. http://artisforyou.org
