Awesome GIF from +OM  showing the progress on their roof renovatiosn in the last 4 years. #GifOM

Recognizing the Bias Behind Technology

Such an important point that I often forget as someone who has grown up with technology making decisions for me...

Interesting read via +The Atlantic

"As mobile devices get smarter and more ubiquitous, it is tempting to let technology make more and more decisions for us. But doing so will require us to sacrifice one of our favorite assumptions: that these tools are inherently logical and neutral.

As "Good Part of Town"-née-"Ghetto Tracker" suggests, even innocuous information can send charged messages if it’s bundled or filtered in a certain way. And as Thatcher points out, the motivations driving the algorithms may not match the motivations of those algorithms' users."

They are miracle workers. My phone was so bad that strangers would tell me to "be careful" before using it. They fixed it in less than an hour and it works perfectly. My camera was broken, but that was something I messed up before taking it there, and he even notified me before I left my phone that they would not be able to confirm all functionality worked until after the screen was fixed. Well worth the money and great, speedy service. Thank you!

I lived here for two years and I still miss my Post Parkside apartment on a weekly basis :) Such a great location -- you're on to the park, a bodega across the street when you run out of essentials, restaurants a dry cleaners and coffee shop next door, a 10 minute walk to MARTA and within walking distance to everything in Midtown. The apartments are a bit dated, but that's not anything you don't know before you move in. I lived on the first floor right on 10th, so there was some noise from the street, but to be expected. If I moved back to Atlanta I'd be back in a heartbeat!

Fritti is great. First, the restaurant easily has one of the best patios in the city. Especially when it cools down in the evenings. I also love their cocktail and wine selection, and while it's not the cheapest, definitely an affordable meal. The pizza is great. I won't say it's the best in the city, but when I have a craving for Fritti that is exactly what I want. I always keep it simple and get the Marinara because they use extremely fresh ingredients. So it might be a basic pizza, but the San Marzano tomato sauce, fresh garlic and olive oil are absolutely AMAZING fresh out of the oven.

Everyone in ATL loves to rave about Rathbun's, which is good, but can be a bit of a let down after all of the hype. KRS on the other hand will never ever ever let you down. By far my favorite restaurant in Atlanta. The steaks are obviously perfection, and the black truffle butter makes my heart skip a beat. But if you're in the mood for something a little lighter, grab a few friends and order some oysters and a bunch of appetizers and sides. Regardless of what you get here, you will not leave unsatisfied. Expensive but well worth it.

I typically keep my activities within a 5 mile radius of Midtown, but I would (and do) drive any day for some Heirloom. The pulled pork and pulled chicken are delish, but the Settler sauce is what makes it for me. I'm all about that vinegar-based BBQ sauce, and the puddle on my plate proves it. And none of the sides I've had ever disappoint, though I'm faithful to the mac & cheese and the korean sweet potatoes. When you drive up, it will look like you came to the wrong place. But you didn't. It's a tiny restaurant connected to a beer distributor, which naturally only adds to its charm. Sadly they've become so popular that people were parking on the grass and the road, and the county forced them to become take-out only. But that only further proves the point that it's just that good.

I'm in the market for my first real bike to commute to work, and I stopped in to do some research. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They answered all of my questions, some of which I'm sure were quite basic. They gave me very helpful information and were overall great! I had a wonderful experience, and while I'm still doing some research to decide which bike is best for me, I plan to make my purchase from Outback when I do decide.
