My new favorite podcast is GrottoPod, hosted by Larry Rosen and Bridget Quinn. I listen to it in the car and on the elliptical machine. Interviews with authors Shanthi Sekaran, Constance Hale, Joshua Mohr, Po Bronson, Ethan Watters, Louise Nayer and more. And co-host Bridget Quinn's debut book of essays, Broad Strokes: 15 Women Who Made Art and Made History is out TODAY!

It's pub day for Shanthi Sekaran! I was so excited to see Lucky Boy, which she had just started working on when I met her in preschool (our sons', not our own) at Pegasus Books yesterday. Today it is officially for sale everywhere, and tomorrow her launch party/reading will be at 7:30 at Mrs. Dalloway Books on College Ave. in Berkeley. Come buy the book and meet the author! http://bit.ly/2j1ANGG

Characters, choreography, poetry, color, myth, humor, multiculti madness—it’s all here in a stunning new book by Constance Hale. The story of Hawaiian dance is revealed through the work of SF’s Kumu Hula Patrick Makuakāne. Connie has a new kids book out, too, which my kids love: Iwalani's Tree.
