Our founder Andrew Migita-Meehan (as any astute student of surname linguistics will surmise) is half Japanese and half Irish. This allegiance and affinity, coupled with our work product, has earned us a place on the recommended resources page of the Ireland Japan Chamber of Commerce (ijcc.jp). But enough about us: this is about a policy change at the EU. The Irish language is now in the first league of European languages. Effective January 1, 2022, any text that is translated by the translators in Brussels will be translated into Irish. Parity. It's imporant.

Foreign accents and social justice. Not an oxymoronic pairing.
Cognitively we are primed by expectations to devalue speech delivered in a foreign accent - and we resent (if unconsciously) that it takes longer to process -- even though this fact could be a memo from the Department of Blindingly Obvious. The QZ piece ties together the social science, cognitive research, and the policy implications for our current age of mass migrations. #GreatRead.

If you're in the crosshairs of the DoJ, you want to know that what you're saying in a deposition is rendered precisely with intent intact.

What's the closed-caption interpretation for #Cacophony?
CNN's #GOPDebate interpreters volunteer this answer: "Unintelligible yelling"

It's easier to be understood when you're courteous and polite.

How's your #Espanol? You'll need it -- or a #MachineTranslation tool - for this post from @medium. But the English-captioned image is priceless.

The colossal scale of #interpreting at the EU. Interpreters plead: go slow and use your #native language.
