"Ultimately we have just one moral duty: to reclaim large areas of peace in ourselves, more and more peace, and to reflect it towards others. And the more peace there is in us, the more peace there will also be in our troubled world."

"To think is easy. To act is hard. But the hardest thing in the world is to act in accordance with your thinking."

If we consciously choose that Love is the Way, is there biblical justification for tearing kids from our neighbors who come looking for asylum?

Romans 13:10
“Love your neighbor as yourself...Love does no wrong to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the Law."

"People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.

If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.

The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.
Think big anyway.

People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.
Fight for a few underdogs anyway.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.

People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.
Help people anyway.

Give the world the best you have and you’ll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you have anyway.”

A meditation/contemplative practice helps you return to the present over and over again, which like a muscle gets better with more practice. It is attention training. Attending to the present, where life flows.

Mental Health (for self and the nation) is a commitment to reality at all costs. – M. Scott Peck

"Movement is time, stillness is eternity, realizing the relationship of the temporal moment to the eternal, not 'moment,' but forever, is the sense of life. Realizing how this moment in your life is actually a moment of eternity, and the experience of the eternal aspect of what you're doing in the temporal experience is the mythological experience." There is a place in yourself of rest. The athlete who is in championship form has a quiet place in himself. And it’s out of that that his/her action comes. If s/he’s all in the action field, s/he’s not performing properly. There’s a center out of which you act. But unless this center has been found, you’re torn apart, tension comes. ...nirvana is a psychological slate of mind. It’s not a place, like heaven, it’s not something that’s not here; it is here, in the middle of the turmoil, what’s called samsara, the whirlpool of life conditions. Joseph Campbell

“We're not on our journey to save the world but to save ourselves. But in doing that you save the world. The influence of a vital person vitalizes.” ― Joseph Campbell
