At Mediashaker we spend a lot of time when creating a website thinking about the right colors is use in the design and how they will effect user experience.

Color theory is a science in itself. It may not seem that important at a first glance, but it really is. For example, Performable, a marketing automation company, was able to increase its click through rate by 21% by simply changing its call-to-action button color from green to red!

Today we focus on the color ‪Red‬. It can be associated with love, anger and passion. In good design, red can be a powerful accent color, however it can also be overwhelming if it’s used too much in designs, especially in its purest form.

Red is very versatile, with brighter versions being energetic and darker shades being more powerful.

Pro tip  - use wisely. You don’t want your ‪#‎yeg‬ clients “seeing red”.

You can't treat social media like your other marketing channels - it requires a different approach.

Don’t just preach at your audience, but engage them, get them involved and always promptly reply to comments. Social media isn’t a soapbox, but a tool for engagement. It’s a two-way street. Do you agree #yeg?

Thanks to mobile devices, how people are searching on Google has shifted dramatically from even a few short years ago.

More and more, people are looking for things in their vicinity — be it a gym or a mall, a plumber, or a cup of coffee. Google search interest in "near me" has increased 34X since 2011 and nearly doubled since last year. The vast majority come from mobile—80% in the last quarter of 2014

Not only that - 50% of consumers who conduct a local search on their smartphone visit a store within a day, and 18% of those searches lead to a purchase within a day.
