Have you ever wondered "what's that noise while I'm driving"? Well, for this vehicle owner it was a wheel bearing (or three). That's right, three. The left front completely failed and caused a breakdown while he was traveling that cost an extra day along with a hotel stay. The right front & rear bearings were not far behind which also required a hub. It is always less expensive to invest in preventative maintenance than to wait for the inconvenience and additional expense of an unexpected breakdown. Call your automotive service professional when you hear an unusual noise and keep your car ready for the road all while saving money! #wheels   #savemoney   #noise

Have you ever climbed into your car on a warm day and thought "my AC isn't blowing cold air". At McLean Auto Repair the most common reason for poor AC cooling is insufficient refrigerant. Recharging the system is only a small part of the repair. Refrigerant, often referred to as Freon, is a gas that can escape from very tiny openings. Determining where the Freon is escaping from can be difficult to detect, especially when it's a very small leak. To help pinpoint Freon loss, a fluorescent dye is added to the system that glows under an ultraviolet light at the source of the leak.

"Why do I hear a growling noise when I'm stopping in the snow?"  We hear this more and more in the winter months. Many of todays vehicles have ABS or Antilock Brake Systems that could engage in the slippery conditions. When the system operates to maximize your stopping power on ice, you may hear the pump growl as you are stopping.

We’ve all been there-- you get behind a truck or you’re driving down a less traveled road and a rock or sediment jumps up on to your windshield without any warning.

Now you have a small chip or crack that starts out small and unsightly, but if left unrepaired, can spread into a larger crack which can disrupt your driving visibility.

Your best bet is to fix the crack or chip ASAP before it gets larger and turns into a more expensive problem.

Did you know that going away from dealer will NOT void your warranty?

Although this is a common misconception, the truth is as long as you use specified parts and fluids, and perform the maintenance items that are listed in your owner’s manual on time, you can go anywhere. Just remember to keep your receipts so that any disputes can be proven if needed.

Most independent car repair shops can offer you a better deal with better service! Call us today to compare.
