You guys are doing some excellent stuff here on your channel!! Love the videos!! And yes, I agree, the net can be left in the fabric softener bath overnight, at least that's what ALL my nets get treated too several times a season!! Tight lines guys, cheers, Capt Paul

Mike, would love to hear what the "black" things are on the first guide on those rods ? Some kind of line counter or similar ?? Great video as usual sir!! thanks in advance,

You got it. They are line counters! Those are my all in one freshwater rods. I use the counters for Umbrella rig trolling and for down lines. This way I can use my Accurate reels for everything. I won't need a giant bulky reel with a line counter in it. Thanks for the compliments!! I appreciate it!- Mike.

Good stuff Capt!! I mentioned on your trolling video the differences folks use across the stripers range but I do see a lot of similar stuff in this video. Our plugging typically would be done on pieces and rips in the bays/inlets with the large wooden plugs, (dannys, pencil poppers and Super Strike Little Necks) As you mentioned though we sometimes get topwater shots outside as well and always a BLAST!!! :-)

Bucktails and diamonds are a common item as well. Enjoy the rest of the bass run, Capt Paul

Thanks Captain Paul, it has been a great run, we were due here in South Jersey.  Pencil Poppers work great in the back bays and inlets as well as out front, I love them too and the bite is so explosive.  This particular tackle talk was just to cover what we did in the "Striped Bass Jig & Pop" Video.  I am sure we could go on for hours with the whole range of jigging and popping for stripers.

Good stuff guys!! Can I ask you how often do guys push it too far and get themselves upside down in the breakers ?? A local inlet up typically will have the stripers stack up on a shoal just outside and every year it seems one or two just get a bit out of place and get rolled. Seems like the same could happen where you are fishing in this video in an instant as well. Tight lines to you, Capt Paul

Hello Paul,
We pick and choose our days in the surf zone... fortunately for us we have a 5 month fishery in the surf with 3 months being excellent!  N to NW winds blow straight off our beach... perfect conditions...Our Ranger 2310 and 2410 bay boats can handle broadside hits from 3fters with absolutely no issues... although with clients onboard we don't usually let them hit us broadside.  You definitely have to pay close attention to the breakers... we've both been running the surf zone our entire lives with no issues.  have pulled a couple smaller boats out for folks though.

Big fan of the SWE show. In my local area of the Northeast the trolling motor is something that you just never see in use and I have no background in their application.

When I watched the Bahia Honda episode I found myself asking what sort of power options are required onboard to run a trolling motor for typical fishing day ?

I would imagine the motor in "anchor mode" must do some serious pulling on the batteries. How many are you guys packing on the Yellowfin and I would assume they must be charged up after every trip no ?? Keep up the great shows and I hope you find a minute to reply here, tight lines guys, Capt Paul

Great looking trip you guys had there Captain!! I always get a kick out of how the tactics for stripers can be so different across the stripers range. Here on LI I don't know of anyone who drags around 16-24 oz Mojos, I don't even think you'd be able to find a shop that carries them here. The trolling crowd here pretty much rely on the spoons and umbrellas behind wire. For me, I'd rather stay tied to the dock than deal with that wire LOL!!  Tight lines to you the rest of the year, cheers, Capt Paul Mandella
