FiveThirtyEight just launched its 2016 general election forecast and currently predicts that Hillary Clinton has an 80.6% chance of winning the presidency based strictly upon polls. The "polls-plus" model that takes into account economic and historical data estimates her chances at 73.6%. Clinton is predicted to take almost 2x the electoral college votes of Donald Trump and around 48% of the popular vote.

Currently, the states with the closest races are Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Mississippi, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. It's immediately apparent that these are not the usual battleground states and that many are solidly in typically red states.

+Amazon.com has just made a change to their "Prohibited listings" for Electronics.

They've added the following line :
Any USB-C™ (or USB Type-C™) cable or adapter product that is not compliant with standard specifications issued by “USB Implementers Forum Inc.”

What does this mean? It means that cable manufacturers who sell poorly made or intentionally deceptive #USB   #TypeC  cables and adapters are banned from Amazon, officially.

Really great news, but we all have to continue to be vigilant and call out any bad products we find on Amazon and other stores (both online and brick and mortar) as we find them.

In 1964 Ken Thompson challenged Schorre to write a program that would answer the 8-queens problems without using "go to" statements thinking this was a non-trivial challenge. This shows how much the discussion changed since then.

Really amazing stuff.

Hey Guys, a little urgent question that you might know the answer to. I'm picking up about 20L of apple juice later today and I've been told that apples here lack the appropriate acidity. Juice is suppose to have a ph of 4.0 when we want 3.2. I've bought pure ascorbic acid but I have no idea of how much should I put in there. I bought PH paper but I would like not to use try and error to get it right.

Thanks!
