The warm washcloth became a ritual, first thing in the morning and at bedtime as I was taking care of my mom. She was confined to bed for over a year, at home under my care with the assistance of my loving wife, Cindy, and hospice nurses and nursing aides without whom we could not have coped.

Cindy and I had a wonderful time last night at Catfish Blues in Hernando, Mississippi. We celebrated Cindy's birthday and got to visit with our long-time friend Richard Johnston who used to play on Beale Street in Memphis. Catfish Blues was packed! The food was excellent and the music was great!
I directed a documentary about Richard ten years ago. Preston Sullivan,Wade Woodall and I recorded Richard as he performed at various venues over a period of several months. You can watch a trailer for the documentary by clicking the link below.

So that Alabama Public Television can broadcast a special program on the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, Afterhours: Live from the Red Cat Birmingham will not air on Monday, April 18th. We'll return at 10:00 p.m. on Monday, April 25th with Ellis Paul.
