Sometimes you see a sunset that just comes once in a while and i was lucky enough to have my camera with me. This is truly a beautiful one over the Brighton West Pier. Haven't seen one like this since.

The West Pier is a pier in Brighton, England. It was designed by Eugenius Birch, opening in 1866 and closing in 1975. The pier was the first to be Grade I listed in Britain but has become increasingly derelict since closure.

The pier was constructed during a boom in pleasure pier building in the 1860s, and was designed to attract tourism in Brighton. It was the town's second pier, joining the Royal Suspension Chain Pier of 1823. It was extended in 1893, and a concert hall was added in 1916. The pier reached its peak attendance during this time, with 2 million visitors between 1918 and 1919. Its popularity began to decline after World War II, and concerts were replaced by a funfair and tearoom. A local company took ownership in 1965, but could not meet the increased maintenance cost, and ultimately filed for bankruptcy. They could not find a suitable buyer, so the pier closed in 1975 and subsequently fell into disrepair.

The West Pier Trust now owns the pier and has proposed various plans to renovate it. Some schemes have been opposed by local residents and the owners of the nearby Palace Pier, who have claimed unfair competition. The pier gradually collapsed during the early 21st century. Major sections collapsed in late 2002, and two fires in March and May 2003 left little of the original structure. Subsequently, English Heritage declared it to be beyond repair. Structured demolition took place in 2010 to make way for the i360, an observation tower which started construction in 2014; further structural damage from storms occurred in 2014.

LE Color Seascapes  -

I always loved the Beach Huts in Hove on the beach. They are all different colours and are used mainly to store beach goods.

n 1923 Matthew Hatton of 32A Brunswick Square suggested to Hove Council that facilities for sea bathing would be greatly improved if the Council were to erect twenty wooden bathing chalets and a pay-box on the beach between the Coastguard Station (south east of Hove Street) and Carlisle Road. He thought the chalets should be leased out for periods of seven, fourteen or twenty-one years at a yearly rent of £75. The idea was not taken up at the time but by 1930 it was definitely on the agenda.

Bathing machines had once been popular and their heyday at Hove was in 1884 when there were forty-six bathing machines designated for female use and twelve machines reserved for men. Segregated bathing was the rule at Hove and the town was slow to leave the strictures of the Victorian era. Although mixed bathing was permitted at Brighton from July 1901, Hove had to wait until 1905 for mixed bathing provision and only in designated areas. These were the beach west of the wooden groyne opposite Westbourne Villas (eleven bathing machines) the beach opposite numbers 1 to 7 Queen’s Gardens (eleven bathing machines) the beach south west of Medina Terrace and the first wooden groyne (seven bathing machines) and the beach 65 yards west of the outfall sewer then in the course of construction.

Went out to Dungeness Beach in Kent for some long exposure shots and got this beautiful old boat. If you live in the UK definitely visit this awesome place.

Shot with Canon 5D Mark iii

Dungeness  is a headland on the coast of Kent, England, formed largely of a shingle beach in the form of a cuspate foreland. It shelters a large area of low-lying land, Romney Marsh. Dungeness is also the name of the power station, of the hamlet within the location, and of an important ecological site at the same location.

On my recent trip to ‪#‎odessa‬ in ‪#‎Ukraine‬ i had great pleasure working with a number of wonderful people. This image was captured next to an ‪#‎abandoned‬ ‪#‎building‬ on a cliff. I absolutely love the old and rusted doors as a backdrop of this portrait. Even though the light was hard i think it work great for this image.  ‪#‎traveling‬ ‪#‎portrait‬ ‪#‎model‬ ‪#‎fashion‬ ‪#‎naturallight‬‪#‎canon

Went out to Newhaven for a day and got this beautiful picture of the Lighthouse and just in time for the sunset.

Shot with Canon 5D Mark iii

The Outer Harbour
The West Breakwater is 705m in length and provides good protection from the prevailing SW’ly winds.

The lighthouse at the end of the breakwater has characteristics Oc(2)10s17m12M and is painted white with a red base. On the seaward side is sign written “Port of Newhaven, VHF Ch.12”. The lighthouse was completely refurbished in July 2009.

The East Pier is 320m in length and is lattice constructed and so gives little protection from the wind but does prevent the invasion of silt into the channel.

The East Pier Light has characteristics IsoG10s12m6M and is a white pole with green horizontal bands.
