Ok.  So I'm going to try to do something for selfy-sunday next week.  But I need some inspiration/ideas.  Any help there?  I really want to get back to shooting regularly (once I get caught up on processing old photos lol).

So... Ideas, fellow photogs???

I experimented a bit when taking this shot with the intention of turning it B&W.  Considering how little I've played with flashes and thought that far ahead, I'm pretty proud of the results.  By no means is it perfect tone or composition wise... But I still like it and think it came out well.
Basically, I waited until it was fairly low light (cloudy and just past sunset) then turned on my in camera flash and adjusted position for light and shadow.  The resulting image is pretty horrible (something you expect from a point and shoot).  However, I planned on manipulating the photo.  The purpose was to get the rich shadows in the background and on her neck and shoulders.  I think it worked well.

Sitting out in the tranquil woods... Such a nice, if not chilly, way to spend the day.

A few captured moments from our family vacation in Myrtle Beach. It has been a great time and our daughter got to be in the ocean for the first time. It may be a hassle to cart a bunch of kids (and all of the associated gear) in and out of the sand... But it is definitely worth the cherished moments. #weareparents

Ok.  Went a bit away from my usual direction with B&Ws on this one.  I think it has a good feel... but I'm not sure.  What do you guys think?  Chime in!  Critique away.
This was shot at 5000iso due to really low light, so I did quite a bit of smoothing to take some grain away.

Now to back up my files on my external... do some spring cleaning... and repair my Linux install.  Or reformat and start everything all over again.  Either way, I'm just happy to have my machine back!

I'm preparing to get the parts to fix my dead PC... And thought that I may get a second monitor for my photo editing. I've been using a Samsung 2253bw for a while. I'd like to get a good monitor that is color accurate 22" or more... On a budget. Not sure that I can afford the IPS monitors. Any suggestions??? Chime in photogs!

68 years ago today some of the bravest men in history stormed the beaches to save us all. We can never know what it was like, or the hellish nightmares that they witnessed.... They did it so that we would never have to. Hats off to the Greatest Generation, both the Vets and the people back home who supported them.

Best meal that I have ever had. The Sushi was fantastic and the experience was one of a kind. We dined late and had the 15,000y dinner, and it was worth twice that price. Have your hotel call and reserve your spot, sit at the counter, and be amazed. We lucked out and got a spot that night, and were the only customers in there so we had the Chef'sfull attention. Watching Takeshi Wakatsuki work was a wonderful experience. He is a true master of his art... And it is art. He even helped us select a fantastic nihonshu to pair with our dinner. The food... The food was magic. I've had the privilege of eating at several Michelin rated places (first Bib Gourmand sushi, though), and I can say that this was the best. The fish quality was superb and expertly prepared. It melts in your mouth and each piece is fashioned with the exact dressing to make it perfect. I cannot fathom better sushi being made. The staff was amazingly courteous and helpful. The chef and head waiter explained each piece and how to eat it... So if you're new to Sushi, you won't feel out of place at all. Chef Wakatsuki was professional and friendly, he even took photos with us. We were the last customers of the day so we had his full attention and he even met us at the door as we left. Naturally, as American tourists, we took photos in front with him. He was very accommodating and gracious. It was one of the best experiences of my life!! If you're in Tokyo, consider this restaurant a must! It is worth every yen!
