Our engineers have been busy this week with strip & survey of various types of Naval application AC & DC Electric Motors.
Upon receipt of the unit into our Bristol Workshop,  the unit is booked in, a unique job number raised, with an Engineer allocated to the job.  That engineer will have overall responsibility for the life of that job, from strip and survey through to dispatch.   This way we can ensure that critical information and knowledge of your motor is retained by the engineer who will overhaul, test and dispatch your motor.
Defense Standards play a key role in how a repair is carried out; we work fully in accordance with these set standards.
During a strip and survey we carry out electrical and mechanical checks to defence Standard Issue 20.  Electrically we perform a No-load test depending on the condition of the unit prior to dis-assembly and full static check of all wound components .  Mechanically all critical dimensions are checked (bearing housings, bearing journals etc), this ensures when the unit is re-assembled all required test criteria is met.
The time taken to strip and survey a motor can vary greatly dependant on the size and complexity of the motor and its condition.
Once our engineer has strip and surveyed the motor a report is issued detailing their findings.  We highlight critical repairs with measurements and photographs to enable our customers to make an informed decision on the repair of their motor.
