Ivana McConnell discusses how designers or developers looking to learn the other discipline can easily become intimidated and confused about where to begin, no matter how many initiatives and resources are out there.

Sounds awesome, but Siri, Google Now, Cortana, and Amazon's weird cylinder are all heading in similar directions I'm sure.

If Viv stays ahead of the curve, the bidding war to buy them out could get crazy. Which is good, cause big money = headlines, and judging by this article, these guys are good at making AI comprehensible to the masses.
The guys who made SIRI are on the verge of releasing Viv, a way of optimizing the Internet that could make you far more intelligent and capable.

Warning: Sounds Spammy but worth checking out!

Like me and most other Americans, do you kinda suck at saving money? A free, new, secure, and spunky service called Digit can help you put money into a savings account without you needing to think about it, and is designed especially to make saving as painless as possible. First read about it here: http://techcrunch.com/2014/12/16/digit-2-5m-seed/

It looks at your income and expenses looking for patterns, and puts small amounts of money into savings when it knows it won't be too noticeable. It likes to keep in touch via text message, which I thought would be annoying, but it's pretty slick and has personality.

Attached is a totally self-serving referral link which will give me $5 if you sign up. It costs you nothing and could help you save for a trip to Hawaii, a new snowboard, finally fix your car, etc. etc. Try it now while its new and they still give you $5 for referrals!

Why pay GoDaddy or even Dreamhost every month for crummy limited shared hosting, when for $5 a month you can get a VPS running on lightning fast SSD machines?

Don't be limited to a LAMP stack, run new node.js hotness like meteor.js or whatever you want. Use this like for $10 free, enough to try for a couple months.

I can't believe I just discovered these guys, and the pricing is so cheap and so much less confusing that Amazon S3 or Google Compute or those other big guys.

In June of 2001, on the release of the first guidelines for OS X Aqua icon design, Corey Marion of the Iconfactory and Alan Graham of Mac DevCenter were interviewed by O’Reilly. The interviewer recalled from WWDC: "Apple stressed the importance of building high quality icons for OS X...They recommend that engineers hire graphic designers to handle their UI and icon design." Custom ROM or stock? If you use Android and aren't sure what I'm talking about, choose stock.

Wouldn't normally post a picture of myself like this, but as the photographer was my 2.998 year old son Everett, why not ☺

There are plenty of cloud offers out there worth checking out, considering that all the major players are using enticing offers to convince buyers to choose their servers for storing precious files...

Good pricing. Discounted lunch on Tuesdays but its very busy. They also let you eat free if it is your birthday, and I hope to take advantage of that today. I believe they ask for ID to verify. Food is mixed, some stuff is better than others. Interesting mix of dessert options. Service is pretty good for a buffet. I think the sushi rolls are surprisingly when you take into account the price and unlimited supply.
