Greetings - Yesterday we attempted a very large trial test with 450 students in the gymnasium. The trial consisted of using 6 high density APs, iPads, Casper Focus and wireless keyboards. All technology met the specifications and was validated on the iTRAX website. There were numerous problems ranging from having students re-associate to an AP to TestNav errors. In the end, it did not go well and consider it a failure. Yes, this is the reason we test...to work out the bugs and be prepared.
While we dissected the testing and now know what measures need to be in place come test time, the pure amount of staff (both technical and administrative) is exhaustive.
This reminds us of what happened in Indiana last year when the server couldn't handle the volume of testing.
From watching the different lists, there are concerns throughout the state. However, there is something that can be done. When speaking with my superintendent, he mentioned he met with legislators yesterday. They (the legislators) informed him he is the only superintendent that had concerns. He feels strongly that PARCC can be stopped this year. He suggested that all tech directors, CTOs, CIOs, Board members and superintendents contact their legislators http://www.ilga.gov/
If you're struggling with preparing for PARCC, please consider contacting your local legislator. Many voice can make an impact!
