MS 150 Post Mortem:

I entered this event for selfish reasons. I was (and still am) seriously out of shape. As I set out to improve my own physical condition, I knew I needed a goal. Riding in the MS 150 seemed like an ambitious, yet achievable goal. So that's what I set out to do. I knew it was a good cause and put effort into fundraising, ultimately raising $1135 thanks to the generosity of so many friends, family members and colleagues. Still, the true meaning of this event didn't really hit me until today.

I am in significant pain right at this moment. Everything hurts... a lot. I will likely be in pain for several days and the issue with the numbness/weakness in my left hand could take another 3 to 4 weeks to recover. The thing is, I know that it will all be fine soon. The pain, the discomfort, the weakness... it's all temporary. The people who actually live with Multiple Sclerosis don't have the benefit of knowing that their issues will go away in a few days or even weeks. At least not yet.

THAT is why this ride was so important. We rode to support the millions of people affected by MS with the hope that the funds raised will eventually allow them that same luxury, the ability to look to the future and know that soon, everything will be fine again.

"What the heck is that?"
"Why, that's the Russian New Year! We can have a parade and serve hot hors d'oeuvres!"

To ease parents' fears, I will be taking a bite out of each piece of candy I hand out tonight to prove it's not poisoned.

Up until now, I haven't really been tempted by any of the TV "stick" devices.  The Chromecast just seemed too limiting and the Roku was both too expensive and I don't like the Roku interface.  Amazon's new Fire TV Stick, however, looks pretty good to me.  It supports all the usual streaming services as well as Miracast for mirroring a tablet, phone or PC display to the TV.  It has an actual remote control, too, and it uses RF so no line-of-sight is required.  They're also offering Prime subscribers the chance to pre-order them for $19 which basically makes this a guilt-free impulse-buy.
Fire TV Stick is a streaming media player with a dual-core processor, up to 1080p HD, certified Dolby Audio, and more. Shop now.

20 years ago, everybody was talking about a certain slow, white Bronco. Now John Elway is back in the news again.

Introduction
I've written a few things here and there about technology.  After living on the other side of the globe for a little while, I'm back in Minnesota now.

The average person may assume that Rasa Sayang is closed because their parking lot always appears empty. There are two reasons for this... first, the majority of their business is carry-out rather than dine-in. Second, their parking lot is so huge that they could fill the restaurant itself to capacity with each person having a car parked outside and the parking lot still wouldn't be full. So, ignore the appearance and stop in. Whether you choose to eat in or take something home, the food is terrific. The menu includes a mix of Chinese and Malaysian cuisine. Everything I've tried has been very good and the service is always friendly.
