Tried again, after more shelves have gone up. Did it work this time +Chris Blackmore?

+Chris Blackmore it was very easy to make. 1 part pva to 3 parts water and a heaped desert spoon of turmeric which I slaked before adding. Mix it up and leave it to stand a few days for the colour to develop fully.
It doesn't appear to be a UV stable pigment so no good in sunshine but, elsewhere it should be ok for longer.

At his age I wouldn't have stood a chance of doing such a thing. Now I'm nearly twice that I think I'd stand a better chance and I'd certainly enjoy it more. Maybe we're looking at the next generation's Ray Mears?

One rustic pallet wood pantry floor installed. Just given it a wipe of boiled linseed oil. I didn't bother planing this timber, just hit it with the belt sander to get it smooth while retaining some character. I didn't see the point in spending hours running my jointer plane over them just for a pantry.

That's a farmer's way of politely saying "get off my land!" He probably didn't want to risk his FAC by turning up with a 12 bore.

Now that, clearly, is assault with an offensive weapon. If her lawyers are any good at all, the farmer's tenancy will end soon.

It hasn't quite stitched together perfectly but, considering the difficulties in doing a photosphere in such tight space it's done well. Anyway, you get the idea. Just stuck up some plasterboard to cover the one wall and create a false ceiling. Dot and dab with ready mixed tile adhesive, shouldn't come down in a hurry! If I have any plaster left from patching the bottom of the stairs I'll back fill the edges. The tin rack is down temporarily while Bex paints it with home made paint.
I would be making some more shelves if it weren't persisting it down outside, woodworking isn't fun in the rain.

Potato and onion storage bins made and installed before the rain stopped play. Going to make covers for them out of some Hessian sack I have laying about. The smaller onion bin is made from Beech, to say it was an old pallet top it comes up pretty well after the Stanley No.6 has been over it.

Well +Bex Lathrope and I had a thoroughly enjoyable day out at +Bletchley Park yesterday. We saw all of the open exhibits, went into the Radio Museum there and had a nice chat with the friendly old souls there. We were also lucky enough to meet Philip Catterall at +The National Museum of Computing, a lovely knowledgeable chap, who gave us our own tour of the Tunny, Colossus and other incredible items they have there.
I can heartily recommend a visit, it's a fascinating place and it's great to see how far it's come in the 15 years since I first went. If I weren't so far away I would almost certainly offer to volunteer my skills in whatever way they could be used.

Food was nice, pudding was still frozen in the middle when I got it but, they quickly brought me another and it was on the house so I wouldn't hold it against them.

Considering it was just a draughty room (the windows didn't shut) with 4 ancient metal framed bunks in it I'd say it was rather over priced, not to mention cheeky calling it a "hotel". To get a shower the hot tap in the bath had to be run for at least 10 minutes before anything like warm came through. Breakfast consists of either cornflakes or toast done in a machine that either barely touches or completely incinerates the bread and don't think you can sneak down late and sit there eating past 9:30 because you'll be chased out by a woman with a vacuum cleaner. To be honest you'd be better off in a tent somewhere!
