Pope Francis, Ladato Si:  "Ecological education can take place in a variety of settings: at school, in families, in the media, in catechesis and elsewhere. Good education plants seeds when we are young, and these continue to bear fruit throughout life. Here, though, I would stress the great importance of the family, which is “the place in which life – the gift of God – can be properly welcomed and protected against the many attacks to which it is exposed, and can develop in accordance with what constitutes authentic human growth. In the face of the so-called culture of death, the family is the heart of the culture of life”.[149] In the family we first learn how to show love and respect for life; we are taught the proper use of things, order and cleanliness, respect for the local ecosystem and care for all creatures. In the family we receive an integral education, which enables us to grow harmoniously in personal maturity. In the family we learn to ask without demanding, to say “thank you” as an expression of genuine gratitude for what we have been given, to control our aggressivity and greed, and to ask forgiveness when we have caused harm. These simple gestures of heartfelt courtesy help to create a culture of shared life and respect for our surroundings."
Encyclical Letter Laudato si' of the Holy Father Francis on care for our common home (24 May 2015)

Yes, we make the GEnx engines which customers can choose (vs Rolls Royce Trent 1000) to power the 787.  Vietnam Airlines shown in the video uses GEnx engines.

In case you did not know, silicone cake pans can catch fire and even if the you tell the 911 operator that you put the fire completely out with a fire extinguisher, they will still send a fire truck, 2 ambulances, and the fire chief with sirens blaring. Since we have only been here a week, we will undoubtedly be known in the neighborhood as the people who set the house on fire.

We were trying to warm up some sandwiches but they got hit with the fire extinguisher. I think we ended up eating fast food.

"But here is where a crucial distinction has to be made: to criticize someone for engaging in immoral activity is not to “hate” that person. In point of fact, it is an act of love, for it is tantamount to willing good for him or her. Once the sense that there is objective good and evil has been attenuated, as it largely has been in our society, the only categories we have left are psychological ones. And this is why, in the minds of many, to question the moral legitimacy of transgenderism is, perforce, to “attack” or “hate” transgendered people. A very real danger that flows from the failure to make the right distinction in this regard is that moral argument evanesces. If someone who disagrees with you on an ethical matter is simply a “hater,” then you don’t have to listen to his argument or engage it critically. You are permitted, in fact, to censor him, to shut him down. Sadly, this is what obtains in much of the public arena today: the impugning of motives, the questioning of character, and the imposition of censorship."

The ethical conversation has become, in the last fifty years, extraordinarily roiled. The problem is the incapacity to make the right distinctions between concepts such as love and hate, tolerance and intolerance.

"Those who want the Church to update, say, its teaching on marriage and sexual morality to reflect the “times,” really mean that they want it to reflect what is thought by certain people in America and Europe.  The sexual morality that prevails in those places at this time is not necessarily the same as prevails in other places in the world at this time.  Yet the Church is supposed to have a universal moral message for mankind.  In changing to fit the times here, it would be putting itself out of step with the times elsewhere.  All the more reason to leave such considerations aside and remain faithful to what it has received."   #marriageequality   #scotus  #truthiseternal
It is very common for some people, both inside and outside the Catholic Church, to call on the Church to change its teachings in order to be better in tune with
