Songmetal Weapons
(Songmetal gets its faux-delightful name from a mispronunciation of the material in its original tongue. A literal translation would be "blood metal".)

Songmetal is harder than steel but looks like frozen blood. The ritual involved in forging Songmetal is a tightly-kept secret, but it is known to include potent magic, rare gems and ores, and hundreds of gallons of fresh blood from sentient creatures.

Songmetal weapons always hunger for more blood. After every round of combat, a Songmetal weapon gains +1 damage for the remainder of the combat (up to a maximum of +7).

If a Songmetal weapon fails to do damage during a round, it does damage equal to its current bonus to the wielder instead. If this happens for 2 rounds in a row the weapon loses any damage bonus it had stacked up and must start over again. At the end of every combat the wielder takes damage equal to 2x the final bonus.

If a Songmetal weapon fails to do damage during a round, it deals 1d4 points of damage to its wielder instead. If this happens for 2 rounds in a row, the weapon loses any damage bonus it had stacked up and must start over again. Thus, at the end of every combat the wielder of a Songmetal weapon takes 2d4 damage.

Oh man, haven't played Gamma World since high school/early '80s. Our GM led us through these really messed up ruins that turned out to be our high school and local mall. Man, he was good.

I've mentioned my name trick before, but i just wrote out a detailed description of it for a GM friend and thought i'd share it here too for anyone who has trouble coming up with names on the fly:

First, pick a random word from any bit of text you happen to have handy: "Lorem ipsum dolor..."

Take a guess at how long you want the name to be. (Rule of thumb: Lower class/less important = short name, higher class/more important = longer name.)

Start at the beginning and either say or sound out the letters until you have the length of name you want. Add the next consonant on the end if you've hit your length but it doesn't sound right.

Try different sounds for each letter and see what you like best. Feel free to change the spelling once you have the sound right.

For instance, starting with "Lorem" i can get:
El
Elle
Elor
Eloar
Eloari
Eloara
Elorem
Eloriam
Eloariem
Lor
Loar
Loari
Loara
Lori
Lora
Loriem
Loreh'em"

That screenshot gives me an itch in my brain. Want to play.
Keeping your creepazoid partially concealed to sustain its scarepower is a spooking trick as old and perfect as BOO! yelling when someone least expects it.

I actually know this person. She does cool stuff. I have an Ice King Embroidery that she made sitting in my office with all my game stuff.

Maiden's Hand Ring
When a command word is whispered to the ring the large gem shrinks and the hands set it inside the smaller ring. A new large gem (at least 1000 gp value) may now be placed in the large setting and the hands will grasp it securely. The effects of the ring depend on the gems it contains:
1   Ruby            (Resist Fire)
2   Quartz         (Resist Cold)
3   Emerald      (Resist Acid)
4   Sapphire     (Resist Lightning)
5   Pearl            (Water Breathing)
6   Onyx            (Resist Necromancy)
7   Opal             (Resist Poison)
8   Amethyst    (Immune to Mind Control/Charm/Sleep)
9   Garnet         (+1 Str and +1 Con)
10 Jade            (Soul Jar)
11 Tiger's Eye  (Infravision and See Invisible)
12 Diamond     (Resist Physical Damage)

The large gem has full effect while the smaller gem has a reduced effect.

Would You Wear This?!
