Penn and Teller are idiots. All those view points are twisted responses. Notice the one scientist says all the GMOs are tested (when in conjunction with another tested product). That's where it becomes a lie. Is the conjunctive products that are tested, not the GMOs. Penn goofs when he says all countries have dirt, sun, and water. They don't all have water. They don't all have dirt (that is rich enough to grow in). And he said we have to spread technology to them, then he starts sounding like an agribusiness moron. Most farmers today don't know how to farm. They follow a process. And that process includes tilling (which isn't always good), pesticides (which aren't good for the ecosystem and create imbalances in the insect/rodent/reptile/etc population), and having to fertilize because they don't rotate crops and compost. The farmers also are taught to mono-crop, which is the main reason crops would destroyed back in the day that sparked the use of pesticides and fertilizers. Ever hear of all your eggs in one basket? That's what mono cropping is and it's stupid. If we stopped mono-cropping, planted more varieties that would thrive in the soil conditions present, and used sustainable practices, food problems would go away via that method too. There's plenty of technology to share on that front too, but Penn is a stupid comedian looking for an outlet to say bullshit 100 times and a reason to tell others to shut the fuck up. Did he study that GMO crops are being engineered not to reproduce? Even from their own seed. Why? So you have to buy more seed each year. Hmm, that's companies that sell the seed, that also sell the pesticides a crop needs (GMOs are very susceptible without the matching pesticides) and (ahem) fertilizers, and they also are buying up the seed banks just to lock away the other varieties. Then they go out and spread their seed illegally onto farms that are organic or not buying their seed/process, THEN sue THEM for using their strain. That doesn't sound like spreading technology. That sounds like oligopoly practices, but in this case is a monopoly because Monsanto is in on all three profiteering fronts. They're also in bed with the heads of all those agencies mentioned. Banking rolling former employees or by hiring politicians and lobbyists before during and after a given terms. Not good at all. And THAT's the real bullshit. If we stopped mono cropping and putting local varieties IN THEIR LOCALES, then diets would improve and a bad year for one crop would be hedged by another similar variety/crop nearby. Allergies would be lessened because we as omnivores need variety. Yep, it's bullshit alright... It comedic, but Penn & Teller are presenting the wrong side of the story. But that doesn't surprise me that they get it wrong ... Because they not usually funny and that's what they apparently know best.
