Happy Birthday, +NASA! Keep up the exciting work!

On this day in 1958, President Eisenhower signed the act creating NASA. The National Aeronautics and Space Act (Pub.L. 85-568), the United States federal statute that created NASA, was signed into law on July 29, 1958.

NASA officially began operations on Oct. 1, 1958, to perform civilian research related to space flight and aeronautics.

The power of astrophotography over time, and proof that the best zoom is actually bringing the camera closer to the subject! ;)

We've come a long way in understanding Pluto since its discovery by American astronomer Clyde Tombaugh in 1930. Today, thanks to our New Horizons spacecraft, the dwarf planet is cleared than ever before. http://go.nasa.gov/1Ht2uwj

Wow! The world certainly has a different feel today! I got all caught up in the excitement yesterday, and delayed this post to today. Friday, June 26, 2015, here forward known as "Equality Day", was a massive step forward in the fight for civil rights. I say (perhaps a bit tongue in cheek) that this was a good week in which to have had a fairy-based Midsummer Stage. ;) Paying tribute, of ...

A beautiful day on which to be American.
The Supreme Court ruled Friday that the U.S. Constitution requires states to license and recognize same-sex marriages.

Where is Pluto????

We're going to Pluto! We just don't totally know where it is...
It's not as bad as it sounds. Watch 'Pluto in a Minute' and get a quick peek at the latest science in this daily update from our New Horizons mission, on track for a July 14 #PlutoFlyby .

+Joe McNally You might be interested in this. Didn't you photograph this girl at one point? Anyhow, what a fantastic honor for Misty, and another barrier broken for people of color in the United States.
Ballet dancer Misty Copeland became the first African-American female principal dancer of the American Ballet Theatre on Tuesday.

Yup. :) Are you sure your backed up music and photographs and documents are really backed up? How do you know, if you don't do periodic test restores?

Introduction
Hi! I'm Matt. I make photographs. I love all sorts of photography--landscape, pets, wildlife. Some events. But my primary love is portraiture. Glamour, boudoir, dance, lifestyle/environmental. For me, photography is about delving into the personality, strength, vulnerability, and desires of the person in front of my lens and memorializing those traits in lovingly prepared photographs.

I've been going to Dr. Chowning for 15 years. He is personable and extremely skilled. Dr Chowning cares about his patients' wellbeing, and will even sacrifice business to ensure his patients have the best care. We had that discussion when it was time to finally remove my wisdom teeth. He gives solid advice on dental care, and keeps up with the latest advancements in the industry. The entire staff is abundantly friendly and more like a family, or a close-knit circle of friends. Even though they only see me every 6 months, they still remember me and the events in my life. My hygienist is skilled, observant, and has a great "bedside" manner; she's always cheerful in the office, and I would consider her a friend outside the office. My family has stayed with Dr. Chowning through his location changes, and through our own insurance changes. Even when he was out of network for a while, I felt he was absolutely worth (more than) what we were paying, and when the insurance company finally wised up and got him back in network, it's a complete no-brainer. As long as Dr. Chowning is practicing, my family will continue being his patients.
