Thanks to +Brent Almond for sharing the eulogy he have at Oren's funeral today, "Oren, please know that your legacy, your group, your fathers — are in good hands. In the hands of those that have shared and supported your vision. We’re in the hands of each other, continuing to laugh and argue, comfort and counsel, inspire and challenge."

Oren Miller passed away after a battle with cancer. I was honored to speak at his funeral about his legacy as a blogger, a father and a friend.

Congrats to +NYC Dads Group members +David Lesser and +Christopher Persley on their terrific readings at this year's +Dad 2.0 Summit.
Lessons learned from being an imperfect parent and from being the preferred (and not-preferred) parent came from the lips of two City Dads Group members, bringing many smiles, a few tears and much applause from the audience gathered at the Dad 2.0 Summit.

Heartfelt post from a man I met for the first time last weekend at +Dad 2.0 Summit. Beautiful words, "I spent three days with dads who, and this is important, consider fatherhood - theirs, ours; our father's, theirs.  I was left with a feeling of the bigness of it all.  The echoes of history and the winds of change seem unending and limitless, overwhelming.  I left with an unease as to how I could fit in the damn bigness of it all.  And then I realized that perhaps my place, your place, everyone's really, is between the bigger ones."

The last time I was here I tried to explain my conflicting feelings of trepidation and excitement as I headed towards San Francisco and The Dad2.0 Summit.  I am back now but the feeling has not really gone away.  I have some ...

LOVE this from +Chris Bernholdt, "Being at home for my daughters, I have taught them how they should be treated with respect and dignity. I have shown them that a man can be just as loving and caring as a woman when it comes to raising children. I have shown them that limitations should never be put on us because of our gender and that we can accomplish anything despite society’s labels."
Why does the choice to be a stay-at-home father instantly lead to a discussion about manhood? It seems to me that doing what is best for your family is truly being a real man.

From +Jim Higley  to his daughter, and all daughters . . . "Sweetheart, I just want you to know how lucky you are. You’re also living in a time when most men view you as their equal. As they should. You’re living in a world where men not only know how to care – they want to share that quality with you and the people they love. Best yet, they feel really good about that."

And just remember, the love of your life will be nothing like Christian Grey. He’ll be better.

I lost a friend this weekend to #cancer. The impact of his life and loss will be felt for years to come. Thanks to +Kevin McKeever for putting together this tribute with thoughts from #CityDads  across the country.

A special father lost his life over the weekend, and that loss brings great sorrow to not only to the wife and two young children who loved and cherished him as only family can but also to hundreds of other fathers who made up his extended family, virtual and IRL, in the dad blogging world.

+Northwestern University needs #fathers  to participate in their latest study on #healthcare. Awesome to see more institutions studying dads.
Northwestern University needs the help of fathers with young children for ongoing research it's doing to better understand how modern dads are involved in their children's health care. They may even pay you for your assistance.

Thanks to CityTot for giving me the opportunity to talk about my life as a dad in NYC.
For February 2015, CityTot met with Matt Schneider, a Manhattan father who has paved the way for local and national meet up groups and networks for fathers. His vision and commitment was inspiring and believe you will think so too. Matt is a father of two boys, and the co-founder of NYC Dads ...

Love this post from my friend +Christopher Persley about our mutual friend, +Lorne Jaffe, "What I have realized is that what I can do to help him is not tell him what he needs to do to. As his friend, I need to let him guide me and tell me what he needs. What is important for someone like me who doesn't deal with depression is to find ways to support my friend."

Here is the first of two posts inspired by my experience at the Dad 2.0 Summit. This is about my good friend, and how it takes great strength to be a parent and husband while dealing with depression.
