On my final evening at Island Lake near Silverton, Colorado, I was captivated by the early sunset light beaming into the basin, illuminating the marsh marigo ld flowers and the final remnants of snow. Nature rocks.

This bridge over marshy swamp in the San Luis Valley leads the viewer to the towering Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the East as a Waxing Gibbous moon rises above. The San Luis Valley might just be one of the most photogenic areas of Colorado, thanks mostly to the huge string of 13ers and 14ers that rise above the valley's eastern edge. In this photo we can see several famous 14ers, including Kit Carson Mountain, Challenger Point, Crestone Peak, and Crestone Needle. Also seen is the Centennial Mount Adams. It's kind of crazy to think I've been on top of almost every peak in this photograph.
