Should you call yourself a freelancer or a consultant? My thoughts on a highly debated topic:
When I first started freelancing, the word “consultant” sounded sleazy to me. In my mind, consultants were people who got paid a ridiculous amount of money to deliver a seemingly small amount of work. Freelancers, however, were the real underdogs of the world and got paid less money to deliver more “real” work. Of course, that was back when I thought the only way to make money was to sell time. I had no concept of selling value to my clients. As...

An inside look at my simple 3 step process for designing digital things:
As a professional web and mobile designer, I spend most of my time solving problems. While some of those problems are business related, most are visual and experiential. That’s why I use a design process that lets me complete any project, for any client using the same three steps. In fact, everyone can use this simple process, regardless of what industry they design for. Strategy Every website or app you design should begin with strategy. This wi...

Ever wish there were more hours in a day? This is for you:
Do you ever wish there were more hours in a day? Most of us end our days feeling like we haven’t accomplished enough. The truth is, you can grant yourself that wish if you’re willing to sacrifice the time you spend on social media. Americans spend an average of 1 hour and 40 minutes on social media every day. That’s 50 hours (or 2 full days) each month, 25 days per year (almost 1 full month), and...

Learn how value-based pricing can help you sell your services at a premium while working financial wonders for your client's business.
There are several well-known non-profit organizations that serve college students across the country. Recently, one such organization asked me to redesign their outdated WordPress website. The organization held 3 main events each year and used their website to share information with students. After a brief conversation, it became clear that there were 2 main goals for the new website: To encourage more students to attend these 3 main events To ma...

Renee and her team operate the travel agency we all hope for and dream of when thinking about our next vacation. To me, they have set highest industry standard for quality customer service and professionalism. I was skeptical of using a travel agency at first, but they are the real deal. When I call, they answer. They respond quickly to any email and go far beyond the call of duty to make their clients happy and comfortable. And it was cheaper than trying to book the trip myself! They followed up with me at every critical juncture. My wife and I went to Maui for our honeymoon and the package we got through Renee at Unforgettable Honeymoons was absolutely perfect. Everything went off without a single hitch during our entire trip. No surprises, just an amazing honeymoon. Don't hesitate to let them help you plan your next vacation or honeymoon!

Stay as far away from the Rochester Wedding Barn as possible! They only good thing I can say about this place is that the venue is truly beautiful. Our wedding went off without a hitch, but that was mostly because my wife and I are amazing at planning + organization. If I didn’t stay on top of these people every day for 10 months, they would have ruined our wedding. The barn owners have absolutely no idea how to run a business or provide customer service. They are by far the most disorganized and incompetent people I have ever had the displeasure of working with. They are deceivingly nice on the phone and in person, but impossible to get in touch with when you actually need them. DON'T BE FOOLED. They have absolutely no communication skills whatsoever, so if you want to have your wedding here, be prepared for A LOT of unnecessary stress, phone calls, misleading conversations, hidden fees, missing payments, lousy contracts, and a ton of ridiculous restrictions. Here is a short list of simple things the owner DJ/Dwayne and his brother David E. managed to screw up: 1) I paid 100% cash upfront and 3 weeks before my wedding, they said the payment went missing and that I was required to provide a receipt. Every time we talked to them we had to give them all our information as if it were the first time we had met. 2) They told us that cocktail tables, mounted industrial fans, and straw bails were included in the barn, as we saw on multiple tours. During our rehearsal 3 days before our wedding, the barn had no fans, straw, or tables, and we were told that was an extra cost. 3) They called us many times leading up to our wedding to confirm all the wrong information. They had no idea who our vendors were and even forgot who WE WERE a few times. They also call rudely late around 9pm - 11pm because the barn is a constant afterthought. 4) They did not provide any toilet paper or trash containers. We literally bought our own toilet paper and had to assign people to walk trash out to the dumpster without getting attacked by their guard dog next door. 5) They cannot do basic math. When I asked for a breakdown of costs for the tables, chairs, and linens, they denied my request. Finally, when they gave me the breakdown, it was incorrect. I only discovered this because I took the time to double check their work. They also don't let you choose your own vendor so they can make a profit!! 6) They provided us with about 8 different phone numbers and we could never reach them on any number. They take A LOT of vacations during their busy season. Every time we DID get a hold of them to confirm a time to meet at the barn they said "just call us on your way over because we might not be there". 7) They wouldn’t let us do a sparkler send-off in the drive way because of fire restrictions even though there was a fire pit CLOSER to the barn that was allowed. Thankfully I convinced them to let us do it anyway. 8) No one was ever on the same page. Every time we managed to confirm something, someone else told us it wasn’t true. It resulted in a lot of added stress for my fiance and I that could have been easily avoided if the 2 clowns running the barn had any common sense or decency. 9) They surprised us with a $150 mandatory insurance policy immediately after we delivered 100% cash payment and signed the contract. 10) They run a limousine service next door which seems to always be the priority. The barn, myself, and my fiance, were always the afterthought, falling through every crack in the place. Considering the amount of money we paid for what we later discovered to be ONLY the physical space, I IMPLORE you to stay as far away from this place as you possibly can. Go have your wedding in a different barn because these people made every day leading up to our wedding an absolute nightmare. Everything went perfectly the day of the wedding, but it’s hard to forget all the chaos and disorder that preceded our special day. I hope this review saves other couples from the stress and anxiety the barn owners caused my wife and I.

Easily the worst post office I've ever been too. Employees are generally rude and unhelpful. Extremely inefficient. Never had a problem sending packages, but every experience is somehow tainted by the tenured government workers attitude. I try to visit this location as seldom as possible even though it's the most convenient for me.

The fries were good and the bartender had a cool accent, but its not enough to overpower the smell and mediocre burger I received. I probably wouldn't go back to this dive bar.

Changing my review from 2 stars to 1 star. I went to see them in person after nearly 4 months of not getting my fiances wedding ring. It only needed to be resized. They said it had been, so I went to pick it up. Come to find out I was never in their system, the ring had never been resized, and they ordered it in the wrong metal. This was after I gave them a $600 deposit and waited 4 months!! I hope this place gets shut down soon so no one else has to experience it. When we finally did get the band, the diamonds were wrong and the ring shape (half rounded) was not what we ordered. I hope I never have to set foot in this place again. Original review below: Friendly people, but absolutely abysmal customer service. My fiance and I bought our wedding bands here and it took well over 3 months to actually get them. I had to call repeatedly every few weeks to get an update and every time the person I needed to talk to was "running errands" or "out of the office" or "with another client". Phone calls weren't returned for weeks and every time they DID answer the phone, they never actually tell you who you're speaking with and act like you're crazy for calling them again. It's extremely awkward to talk to anyone at this store and they didn't follow up with us ONCE. We had to chase after them every time. The only reason I gave it 2 stars was because they saved us about $1,600 on a custom wedding band vs. a competitor, but I would have happily paid more money if I had known how bad the customer service was going to be. Good merchandise, but not worth the hassle with non-existent customer service.

My fiance and I took her parents out for a nice dinner. We ate here once before and it was amazing. The food and atmosphere were excellent this time as well. The waitress was a little too talkative, but overall very nice. Right before we left, some guy near the bar starting swearing loudly and yelling at the bartender, disrupting everyone's meal and making the guests feel very uncomfortable. Then, that same guy came over to our table to ask how our meals were. It was the owner. Before letting us leave, he made sure to say "Did you have a nice time? Good, now get the f*** out." along with several other profane and inappropriate statements. I suppose this is how some people make jokes or perhaps he was intoxicated, but it was so uncomfortable for us that I probably won't go back or recommend this place to anyone so long as he is the owner.
