The dreaded "soap opera" effect...
 
Uh, oh. The Hobbit at 48 FPS looks 'like television.'

Peter Jackson showed 10 minutes of his upcoming Hobbit movie in 48 frame-per-second 3D at CinemaCon yesterday. (Regular movies are 24 frames per second.)

The reaction wasn't what everyone was expecting.

It looked "jarring" and "non-cinematic" and "a bit like television" said viewers.

Yikes!
