Wasn't expecting much from Beats Music but so far the curation and mobile experience beat Spotify. Desktop experience another story though.

Following the 60 Minutes piece on Amazon the other night, this was really interesting to watch.  Hard to believe this was the year I graduated high school.  Technology moves so fast!  Highlights include:

• “Amazon collects half a gigabyte (whatever that is) of data on his customers every day!”
• “Amazon is worth 20% more than Sears!
• “When I logged into Amazon, it remembered my name and my past orders!”
• “Amazon has 5 large warehouses in the US and Europe!”

The sharpness of the 45 f/1.8 is incredible.  Makes me pine for the 75.  This is processed in Lr and Nik.

I hired Tanya Boggs Photography in May 2012 to do a family session with my wife and daughter while on vacation in Charleston. Long story short, it was an excellent experience, but let me provide some detail. All of the logistics are handled by Tanya's husband, Patrick. I spoke with him to learn about pricing, schedules, locations, etc. He's fantastically friendly and makes you feel completely at ease. After we had booked the session, we filled out a short survey and did a conference call with Tanya and my wife so they could learn a bit more about us, what we liked, what kind of shots we were looking for, and that sort of thing. I believe they normally do this in person, but since we were out of town we did it over the phone. We scheduled our shoot early in the week of our vacation so as to give Tanya time to post process the images and have us in to her studio to view them. We did our session downtown, and thankfully the weather was perfect. When we arrived, Tanya and Patrick and already scoped out some good spots the prior week based on our previous discussions. Their preparedness was highly impressive. It was nice to know they weren't just winging it. Tanya and Patrick worked great as a team during the shoot. In fact, Patrick pushed our stroller and diaper bag all over the place so we could focus on our daughter and the shoot. They both did an excellent job of keeping my daughter engaged and happy - no small task with a one year old. They were also enthusiastic and flexible about suggestions for shots that caught our eye as we were walking around. I've been what I'd call a "serious amateur" photographer for six or seven years, so I know my way around a camera and photography fairly well. Tanya is a professional. She's not what pros refer to as "AMWAC" (another mom with a camera). She doesn't "spray and pray" and give you 400 shots for $100. Expect her to show you 10-15 high quality images after your shoot. She sets up each shot carefully, creatively composes them, and measures light accurately. She shot most of our session with a 50mm prime, which I was keen on because that's my style of photography as well. A couple days after our session, we met up with the duo in their studio downtown to review the images. Tanya uses Lightroom 4 for her post work in case you're a geek and are interested. Because I'm familiar with the software, they just let me drive around on her Mac and review all the shots. Her editing was tastefully professional. Nothing was over the top or obviously Photoshopped like so many shots you see nowadays. We ordered four or five professionally printed images to display in our home. These are extremely high quality - not printed at Wal Mart. We're very pleased with how they came out. In summary, you can't go wrong with Tanya and Patrick. Everything about our experience was great, and I highly recommend them.
