There’s a lot of excitement about Bitcoin, but also a lot of confusion about what Bitcoin is and how it works. We’re offering this course to help cut through the hype and get to the core of what makes Bitcoin unique. A pair of back-to-back Lego heists last week exposed a flourishing trend in the criminal underworld that's been quietly growing for years. Stolen Legos are as good as cash

Mesmerizing
An invisible, ancient source of energy surrounds us—energy that powered the first explorations of the world, and that may be a key to the future. This map shows you the delicate tracery of wind flowing over the US. Wind map prints are available from Point.B Studio.

From the article:

Google is experimenting with more mobile-friendly forms of CAPTCHA, like a test that would show you a picture of a cat and asked you to select similar photos from a grid. (Data collected in this way would also be used to improve Google's Image Search, continuing the practice from previous tests.) As the project progresses, we'll see even more versions of the test, built on top of the new, more flexible API.

It's also an interesting take on the modern web, where widespread monitoring has made passive behavioral identification more effective than active testing. These days, the easiest way to tell a user is human isn't to ask them questions, but to see how they act.
If you've signed up for an account recently, you've probably seen it: a quick test that gives you a few distorted words and asks you to type them back in plaintext. The official name is CAPTCHA, a...

I got the salad and was initially worried it wouldn't be enough food. I loaded up on the toppings just to be sure and then discovered that toppings were all amazingly delicious. The falafels were good but the toppings were the things that really sealed the deal for me.
