With the news of 5E releasing web-content for the Eberron Campaign. I started thinking What if warforged was something one chose to become. To give up one's humanity for ageless service? Almost re-envisioning them as the Fighter's alternative to becoming a lich. Ageless life with no weakening of the body or will/resolve. Of course many would almost certainly go mad since they would loose the release of drink and other carnal activities. Others knowing that they could likely be repaired would loose the drive that carried them to be the great warriors they had been before electing this path.

Mechanically it might be something as simple as providing options that override the class/path options an provide news ones. Mayb even retroactively replacing previous abilities.
Welcome to the first installment of Unearthed Arcana, a monthly workshop where D&D R&D shows off a variety of new and interesting pieces of RPG design for use at your gaming table. You can think of the material presented in this series as similar to the first wave of the fifth edition playtest.

Didn't 3.5 have a prestige class for artificers where they basically did cybernetic replacements of parts?

Over the holidays I tried the first time release of Naragansett Autocrat Coffee Milk Stout. Growing up near Rhode Island, I drank a fair amount of Autocrat Coffee Milk and still do, on occasion. Now Coffee Syrup is sweet and...

While we're throwing around free links today...

BETTER THAN ANY MAN, a massive adventure/mini-campaign that's free to download (and Pay What You Want if you're feeling generous) and it's as good as this sort of thing ever gets.

Plus and share this thing to hell and back if you agree.

Does anyone have a good, readable, history of the rivalries and challenges Rome faced as it split into the Eastern and Western empires?

Fantasy in the Blasted Future
I wrote up some ideas about what kinds of places and cultures might survive and repeat in a fantasy campaign world that takes place in the blasted future of the earth. Yes I was inspired by Thundarr the Barbarian.
In my last post I talked about setting a "Lamentations of the Flame Princess" game in the future after a catastrophic event. But my description did not go into any detail about what cultures and nations might look like in tha...

The story of Cabeza de Vaca, a man washed up with 3 others who wanders new and "unsettled" lands in the Americas performing miracles and converting the Native Americans sounds like an adventure/campaign hook. Either as something the party does/becomes or something the party is trying to hunt down and put and end to. Either way the historical precedence of it might interest +James Raggi

If I were adapting this for rpg purposes, I'd be tempted to make him a minotaur, just because of his name (Cabeza de Vaca=cow head).
