Made my annual batch of limoncello last night with lemons from the backyard.  I'm going to cut the sugar to only 3 cups this year.  Last year I used 4 cups sugar & 4 cups water and it was too sweet/syrupy.  I think I'll try 3 cups sugar / 3 cups water this year.

My wife got me the welcome mat for the house. I think it looks great at my office. It says "Hi, I'm Mat"

Toward the end of last month I got the infamous text from AT&T saying my data usage on my iPhone put me in the top 5% of users. Today I pulled up my account online to see what astronomical usage it took to put me in that elite group... 2.2GB. What a load of crap. I take the text as a threat since I know about their throttling practices and I have a hard time believing that 2.2GB/month is extreme enough to warrant a warning.

I think it's ridiculous 911 recordings are released for public consumption. Medical, psychological and highly sensitive information is shared. How is that ok?

I don't think we are going to reach an agreement. I'm not convinced the general public should have access to the recordings. Somebody already controls their distribution and if they really wanted to cover something up they still could. Your example wouldn't stop at "my boyfriends been shot" the operator would start to dig into the scenario.

I don't think it's far-fetched to think that next-gen game consoles will only support legacy disks and all games will be sold as digital downloads. Stores will still be stocked with DVD cases (because people don't like change), but inside will be a redemption code rather than a disk. The used game market (the bane of game publishers) will be instantly eliminated for next-gen games. I give this prediction an 80% chance. Broadband speeds are high enough to download games fairly quickly and next-gen consoles will have a ton of storage. Think about it.

Very well written opinion piece of Google+. IMHO third party APIs are a ticket to admission for online social interaction today. Google+ would have been great two years ago. Today, with the appification of everything, people need to be able to cross-post to social networks.

I just watched "Forks Over Knives" on Netflix. It's a documentary explaining the benefits of a plant based diet. While the answer to health is probably balanced in the middle of plant & animal, it does a great job showing how ridiculous the typical western diet is.

I've seen both Forks Over Knives and Food Inc.  I seen most documentaries on the food industry.  And like Julie Elrod my husband and I have changed to a vegetarian diet - we're not vegans - but, the beef, pork, and chicken are gone!  We're both loosing weight and feeling much better about life.  We try to eat only local produce - yes, it's difficult as we both enjoy avocados and mangoes - not really grown in the Midwest (damn!).
and Chris Phillips and John Heylin - Don't worry about imagery - Monsanto is soon to take over the world produce supply (just like Tyson is taking over the chicken supply); and our great great grandchildren will have 10 fingers and 10 toes on each hand and foot!
[Bet that visual got your attention!] My point is really that they are going to bulldoze their way thru our farms and markets and into our homes and we'll have no choice about what we eat.

It looks like Google is now catering to the "there is a sucker born every minute" crowd. Wow. No thanks.

Story
Introduction
I'm married to an amazing woman who gave me a beautiful son.  I've been blessed with a lot of great people in my life.  After college I wandered into the world of insurance and Nationwide/Allied has been a great company to work for.

I am a homebrewer and I dabble a bit in golf.  I LOVE gadgets of all kinds almost to an unhealthy level.  I still fire up my XBox 360 to get in some Tiger Woods or role playing game.
Bragging rights
I took 1st place in my first and only homebrew competition so far.
